How often do you replace your inserts?

And if you treat your windshield with a rain repelent product or wax... which product is it and how often do you apply it??

first off, i just put on a pair of bosch icon wipers. they're the same thing as the valeo ultimates, no arms, just a thick piece of "L" shaped extruded rubber. so no more inserts for me. prior to installing these, i replaced the inserts whenever they got streaky. also, i use rain-x and i apply it every time i do a thorough detailing on my car, so probably thrice (3x) a year.

when i see the blade start to shredd or when it no longer is effective

I ran the same wipers for 2 years. Bought some winter ones, and I'm going to put back on the old wipers in the spring.... unless I can find a passenger side one that has that contour to it.

I don't treat my windshield with anything.

I just saw the ad for the Bosch Icons in the new Motor Trend. They are most definately the Valeo blades.

In that case, you would buy (2) 21" blades. I have the Valeos on my car and the 21"ers fit perfectly.

Jared: What did those Bosch Icons cost you?

That's almost as much as the aero twin wiper blades. The aero twin blades are $28ea at Advance Auto.
