The B8.5 is dsg only in the uk, I’ve had the same thoughts as to whether it would be viable should my transmission ever fail. Over here it’d be pretty cool and unique but I’d imagine a hell of a lot of work!

Or better yet, a different tranny like a Tremec. Audi's 6mt is definitely not the strong part of the vehicle.

I dont think anybody has had 6MT Getrag transmission issues. Most(if not all) issues stem from weak OEM clutch and worthless CDV

What are you basing that off of?

I spoke to my tech about doing this. It really isn’t worth the trouble because of all the computers/sensors that need to be calibrated. I ended up selling my DSG for the 6speed, it was practically a straight swap.

Real problem is that you cannot buy an S4 with a MT in the UK even if you wanted one. I bet you could buy a B8 S4 Avant though. So don't I feel too sorry for you. But I understand your frustration. I'm afraid that the MT Audi is on life support. In theory you can still get one on a B9 A4, but I doubt that more than a hand full are ever ordered or produced. RIP Manual transmission in an Audi.
