View Full Version : B6 A4: Gen4 Hella kit on H7 halogen housings

I have posted this DIY about Installation of Hella Gen4 D2S kit on B6 housings in the past.
Because i had quite a few number of people asking more about it, I decided to post it on DIY section, so more people can read it.

1. Here is a headlight housing from 03 AUDI A4 B6. Of course, you have to take it off the vehicle first.

2. This is a view of the rear side of the headlight housing.

3. After opening the door on the back of the housing, this is what you will see.

4. Open the clamp that is holding the H7 halogen bulb carefully. Then, this is what you will see after removal.

5. You need to have d2s bulbs with H7 adapters. This is what d2s bulb with H7 adapter on it looks like.

6. See the red arrow in pic. You need to push that hanger downward for access of ignitor.

7. This is what it looks like after pushing it downward.

8. Now, do the same for another hanger.

9. Place the D2S bulb w/H7 adapter in its place.

10. This is the ballast you will be using. Underneathe the headlight housing, there is a space to keep the ballast.

11. You need to mark where you need to dremel the hole for access of wire harnesses of ballast.

12. Dremel the hole!!

13. After making the hole, secure the ballast with using screws and other steel wires or etc.. (This pic shows only one screw, because I couldn't find any other stuff to use)

14. View from inside of housing. See the harness part of the ballast came in.

15. Put wire tabs on two power source wires (+) and (-). The wire tabs can be purchased for like $2 at Home Depot.

16. plug them into H7 harness.

17. Ballast wire harness is plugged into the ballast.

18. This is the ignitor for the gen4 ballast. Cut those 4 x plastic things that stand out.

19. The housing is ready to have the ignitor on the bulb and ready to be plugged.

20. Ignitor is on the bulb and everything is hooked up.

Installation completed! Close the door and place it on the car and ready to go!!
