View Full Version : Wheel adapters for running 5x100 wheels

Okay I need some suggestions here on wheel adapters. I want to know if any one on here has had them and what are the negatives of using them. I have never been a fan of wheel spacers just from the hoer stories that I have heard. The reason that I’m looking into wheel adapter is my friend has a set of 19x8 OZ supperelegarra 3’s with 235/35R19 BF Goodrich KDW2’s with about 500 miles on them off his Jetta (5x100). He said he will sell them to me for $700.00. So this is why I am considering going with wheel adapters, because I really don’t want to give up a deal like this…

So any suggestions on running adapters would be a big help……

I thought H&R made a set.

Yeah I think your right. I just want to know if it's a bad idea to go with wheel adapters. And just be better off buying the right set up. But the down side is it's going to be way more the $700

Edit: I guess I'm just asking if you guys think it's a bad idea??[;)]

Even if the adapters suck, you can sell them and the wheels at a profit.

Depending on the width and offset, you might not be able to make them fit properly anyway. Keep in mind that the adapters will add a minimum of 20mm to whatever the offset is on the SLIIIs, so if they're et35 or so now, you'd be looking at et15 or less. I would think that'd make fender clearance a bit tight.

you can always get them redrilled, i hate redrilled wheels but that is an option

I would just buy the right pattern for your car. no sense in re-drilling. FWIW, I've always had an aversion to running spacer and adapters. it just doesn't jive with me for some reason.

your gonna give up mono10's for superleggas?

ok ok, they are both hot wheels....

Those are Moven SP10's

I am not going to drill because it will just kill the wheel. As for the spacer I have never been a huge fan of them as well, But $700 for these wheels with tires, it's worth the searching, hassel, and time to see if I can get them to work...

His wheels are 19x8 with a 30et.... So would that be pushing it with 20mm adapters?

And I wish I had mono 10's[:p] Thats why I want knew wheels now.[:o]

Edit: I just spoke with him. I guess he has a hook up at ECS to get wheel adapters...

And another plus is if it's to much of a hassel, he said he would just order me the 5x112's for a trade on some ski stuff...[:D]

He's looking for adapters, not spacers right?

The adapter has an amount of spacing to it as well.

Yeah 20mm is the smallest adapters come..

01-12-2006, 05:08 PM
that may be a problem. I'm sure deals like this will come along again. I'd pass.

Yeah I'm thinking it's not worth the headache. And I really dont trust adapters.
Just hope he comes through on hooking me up with the correct wheels..
