Where did you get it done? My dealer couldn't figure it out and they don't like "experimenting" with other people's cars. Please list the dealer or shop that you got yours done or that you know of. I live in East PA so anywhere in the PA, NJ, NY area.

The rear door mod is when you replace the front driver side door handle with the rear door handle. There is no key hole. You also remove the lock and tumbler from the door so the door can only be opened via remote. With this mod, your Audi is much less prone to theft because thieves can't get in any other way. Notice that the newer audis and VW's don't have a visible physical lock.

Ahh I see.

In regards to that I would advise ordering a UK speck passengers door handle as that should be a straight swap.

I had the Left-hand drive RS4 I striped and the only difference I could see was the lock and the bar to manually push the door lock open which can be removed, you would not have this need if going keyless.

Only problem I can see you having are if you got a flat Battery.

Suggestion for this is run a power connection from Batt to the boot/trunk so you can feed the batt.

plus then you cant close/open your window with your key anymore =[

Also, I thought that when you remote battery went dead you had to reset it which involved using the key to open the door. That's probably wrong though. BTW, my remotes suck you have to be very close to the car for it to unlock. It's also wierd to me how slow it unlocks, almost like it's straining lol.

There is also a mod for that as well. [;)]

For doing the rear door handle in the front. Would you just not take out the drivers side and put in the rear? Or is there more to it?

I think they are different front and rear but as I stated if you order up a right-hand drive passangers door handel it would work for sure.

And if you have an Amp in the boot with a power block and you get a flat Battery just connect the power lead on to that to power up the car to get in to the cabin area.

I didn't know you could do that. I have to hold my remote down to have the windows roll. How do you do it?

Yeah I'll do that..

Why not just take your door panel off and give it a try? It cant bee that hard. Your just eliminating the lock. Everything else is plug and play...

I'll order it tomorrow and give it a shot.

I want to also remove the lock and tumbler. Shouldn't that involve taking the door apart?

Yeah you are going to have to remove the door panel. I had to do this last year when my inside handle broke. It took about 5 min to take it off if that.

I did a search on AW and it seems that all you have to do is remove the tumbler and mechanism in the door and replace with a rear door handle. The bitch is putting the door panel back on. That will take you 15 min just to get the damn thing lined up right..
