Hello forum! First time posting. I've googled and searched all I could and I haven't seem to find my issue.
So lately I've been installing a new engine with 90k miles on it since my oil pump went bad on my old engine (only 109k). Today I finally got to installing the alternator and I hooked up the wire harness clip and positive termal to the starter. I went to go start it to see if everything was hooked up correctly. It clicked once and didn't even try to turn it. Very weird since I can crank the engine over by hand. Then my luck got worse from there. I opened up a new can of problems by accidently bumping the positive terminal that leads down to (I forget where somewhere by starter) and zapped it against the frame for a split second. I was hoping it just did a quick arc but it killed all the power to everything inside the car. I tried testing the battery to see if it was still good. It had good voltage still and charged just fine. I tried my spare battery to make sure and nothing came on when I plugged it in. Strangely I heard a sparking from the positive terminal and it started smoking so there must be a short somewhere in the wiring. I had someone hold the terminal on the battery for just a second to test some stuff with a multimeter. I pulled the panel out for underneath the driver's side foot well and tested to see if there was power and the relays all seemed to have power. I checked the big fuses below I think a 40 amp and 65? Anyways I checked them both and they weren't blown. Both looked clean and in tact but didn't see voltage going thru either of them. I eliminated the negative being the issue by running my own negative wire to the chassis instead of using the stock terminal. Still had same issues. I also removed the terminal that runs down into the engine and just attached the one for the inside electronics.
Any suggestions?
