Bringing my car to have downpipes installed today. Is it safe to install the Stage 2 software before the downpipes are installed or should I wait until after the downpipes are installed?
I'd prefer to install before unless there are good reasons to wait until after the downpipes are installed.

How much whp/tw do they say you will gain form DP’s and tune?
I hear mixed info. Some say Stage 2 only turns off the CEL and others say the tune increase boost as well

I had my car dyno’d with 3” cat-less down pipes on a factory software, gains where somewhat significant. Like 40-50 hp I believe.. Some on here believe you don’t need them, others do. There’s also some clown on here with a S6 running Rs turbos on unmodified stock downpipes, ran a 10.8 in the quarter. How long that will last, who knows. The RS7/6 run the same downpipes and every other 4.0T engine, I really don’t know what to believe. Dyno numbers and quarter mile times are incredibly conflicting.

You gained 40-50 crank or wheel HP? Did the tuning add anything or just eliminate the CEL?

To my knowledge, best to play it safe and install tune after the downpipes are installed. The increased heat/demand created by Stage 2 can be enough to cause damage to the stock cats. At least one member here has had damaged cats due to this. If you’re doing them both within a day or 3 of each other, I doubt it’s a huge deal.

Yes, stage 2 tune eliminates the CEL. Made 509hp and 550tq.

I went from stock to stage 2. I ran down pipes with out a tune for about 2 months. That graph picture kinda sucks. But the baseline tune they did is the red. The fuel in Canada is trash, so with either meth injection or better fuel the numbers would have been a bit higher.

How did the HP gain feel on a stock tune?

It was very noticeable, exhaust note increase was the best part. I’d still recommend getting a proper tune though. Best decision you’ll ever make.

I don't think people have stock cats if they upgraded the DP.

The OP was asking about going Stage 2 prior to changing the downpipes/cats.

This is crank horsepower correct? What were you stock figures, can't see the sidebars on this. Thanks

That’s at the crank corrected I believe, can’t remember for the life of me what the stock numbers were. I can post a better picture of the dyno graph tomorrow. Currently on holidays!

Neither,
HPA Motorsports stage 2 tune. On shitty Canadian 94 octane which is equivalent to California 91. They’re currently developing a stage 3 tune for another S6 customer, which I also hope to have installed by spring.
