So I’ve got the RS7 21’s on my S7. I’ve got their respective OEM wheel caps on there. Last week I had a flat on the driver side front so i had the car towed in for the tire to be changed. That got done. However, the dealership said they had trouble refitting the cap on there. I figured the cap broke or was some kind of dud after the flat so i ordered a new set. Same issue. Not sure why that is. Previously they popped right in. Now it’s kind of snug but not a secure fir and came off at the car wash. Y’all have any suggestions as to the issue? I can’t imagine the center piece of the actual wheel was damaged during the flat but what do I know. Here are pics. Would appreciate any ideas suggestions. Can’t stand driving such a nice car with such a small piece missing. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171107/9ecaf9f807d7882037b1af078ad08533.jpg

Also remove the wheel and try it with it off the car. Maybe something is hindering it going on and you'll be able to see from behind!

Have the wheels been refinished/repainted?
The centre caps are a snug fit as it is. If the wheels have had another coat or two of paint it can be even tighter.

That is odd! I see you have RS7 wheels on your S7. Where did you acquire them? They might be Reps!

Nah. They are oem. They were indeed painted. Because of how difficult it was to even acquire this style, my only option was to purchase a set of titanium and have them painted black. Putting the caps on the first time posed no problem but maybe the black paint is now the issue

Tried this. The one I’m holding is actually from the back wheel and I put that new one on the back wheel to test out your theory. I’m starting to believe it’s an issue with the paint as mentioned. Not sure why it has yet to pose an issue till now. I also don’t understand why it’s selective to just that wheel but I guess some things are unexplainable. I’ll go the extra mile and stop by a wheel shop to have them take a look with it off. This is frustrating.

On my 20" OEM A7 wheels, there's a notch on the inside of the center bore. That protrusion on your hubcap fits in that notch. I don't remember if it lines up with the valve stem or if it's 180* out. (edit: just checked a picture - it's 180* out)
You may have damaged the legs when trying to pop them in. Take a razor knife and smooth out the ramps. If the wheel is off the car, you can remove the spring, install the cap and put the spring back in using a needle nose pliers.

Are you certain the cap (s) are OE?, check for a stamped PN, and Audi rings.

I just got a set of performance wheel, did not realize I can not use the center cap on my original blade style wheels. They are slightly larger. I have to purchase a black set of center cap.

They do have the Audi badges and matching PN. I think the issue is the paint or an issue with the inner bore. I read somewhere that heat also often times plays a factor since the brakes generate so much heat. It can cause small changes in size. I’ll keep you all updated on a resolution

So I went to a wheel and tire shop to have them take a look. His guess was that the black housing right under the chrome lip was protruding so he suggested shaving it down. It ended up working though i still suspect the paint was my original issue. I'll be keeping an eye out for its security. The ultimate test will likely be my next carwash visit.
