View Full Version : RS7 sway bar install help

My Eurocode front a rear sway bars arrived yesterday and I plan on installing them today on ramps. The rear looks pretty straight forward, but I’m not sure how hard the front will be. Does the front require any subframe lowering or anything unusual? Any advise will help.

I am also in Ventura with the same bars for my '16 S7. Perhaps there is some way we can cooperate on the install. I think the front will be easier than the rear. I have jacks, stands, etc.

Have you read the instructions for the installation from Eurocode. It really seems very straight forward except for the need to "lower the exhaust system" on the rears.
I have been reading the process in the service manual and it seems the same. I hope to use the stock links as well.

Fronts are easier on this platform than the rears. Instead of lowering the exhaust, I removed one of the rear wheels and that allowed a good angle to make it work. The rear is a little more congested and harder to get to. The fronts are a breeze.

Well, we did it today. Mario and I installed two rear and one front sway bars on our RS7 and S7 in about 3-1/2 hours. As Iowa says, the fronts were a breeze and can be done by one man. (I did one front on my S7 on Sunday) We did not drop the exhaust when doing the rears, instead we removed both rear wheels. I don't think I could have done the rear by myself - it was difficult enough for two of us. We stayed with the stock links on both cars.
The job would have been much easier if we had had triple square SOCKETS rather than triple square BITS. I you don't have the triple squares, be sure to get the sockets, not the bits.

Thanks Eric for all your help. The front is rear so simple, but the rear requires more muscle and wiggling. I’m sure it can be done with one person if you are willing to remove a lot more parts.
I set my to the stiffest setting and it dramatic, the car is much more planted, flat and the steering on the freeway feels much more connected with more feed back. The steering doesn’t have that disconnected drive by wire feeling any more.
