Hello all,
As I was driving today, I would hit a bump and my rear end would be all over the place. I haven't had a chance to get under the car, but is there a rear sway bar I can tighten up? Or would just putting some weight over the rear tires in the cargo area help? Long-term Im doing a coilover conversion, but that's probably happening next month.

Car does come with a rear sway bar. There are the two end links (one at each wheel), and two brackets connecting the bar to the chassis. I've had end links go bad before and result in some sloppy handling, and weird sounds.

Your alignment could be off...particularly the toe

Check your suspension bushings when you do your coil over change. There are a lot of rubber bits back there to wear out.

What type of weird sounds? I do have some odd noises. I think best course of action for me would be to just do the coilover change now, as well as get the alignment checked.

Well your car is 14 yrs old now. I had similar issues and burned through some expensive Michelin rubber so I ended up changing out all my rear suspension bushings for poly . . .. or in process of. My S6 rear end felt like it would kind of walk all over the place on lateral load turns with bumps. As others said look at your sway bar end link bushings, then rear hub carrier bushings. If the rubber bushings look worn on any of it I can say all of them will fail sooner or later.

I had a similar problem with my S6 and it turned out to be a bad spring in the rear. Could also be a bad shock.

Well I did some preliminary looking around, and the tires were about 10 psi underinflated, which didn't help matters at all. I ordered some upgraded replacements for the rear sway bar end links because I figure those are probably toast at this point. Once I get them I'll post before and after pics.

My bet is on rear toe, you can check it for free with patience and a free afternoon with strings. Attach them to the chassis and you'll be hard pressed to get any more accurate with any other method.

Where do you attached the strings specifically?

I have a smart strings setup and perform my own alignments. I was curious what 4rings2turbo's meant when he said attach the strings to the chassis. Always looking for alternatives. I can't figure out though how you are going to attach them to the chassis or where.
