I'm trying to pick a new air filter. any ideas? I was told to pick up an ITG foam filter:

Audi A4 all models (incl S4) (-2001)

I was gonna go for the K&N or "green air filter" or something else I could pick up from advance auto parts, but just thought I'd see what everybody else thinks. I have like 101K miles now. I'm not trying to mod the d*mn thing, just trying to keep it breathing easy and riding smooth for my last 3 semesters in college. Suggestions are welcome for what air filter to buy and what else I should look into to increase life (fuel injector cleaners, fuel additives, certain synthetic oil brands, etc.).

I'd just buy OEM myself.

K&N or those foam are you best choices.

ITG are quality filters. I had both that panel and cone filters by them.

ITG is a bit expensive..... $60 for the filter, plus about $30 or so for shipping.... that's insane for a simple panel filter... there any cheaper vendors other than that one?

I'll sell my K&N i guess. Maybe sometime in Feb?

Try AWE Tuning. They're near Philly and I'm sure they won't charge anywhere near $30 for shipping:

how often does it need to be cleaned? I'm not trying to dump an extra 20 for a d*mn spray

I clean my K&N every spring. It really depends on how dusty/buggy your area gets.

my brother tells me the OEM paper filter should clean better than the rest. true, you have to change them like periodically, but they filter better than aftermarket. not sure if that's true, just thought I'd pass that along. I also came by this "Green Air Filter", not sure if anybody is running those. I'm trying to get something with decent performance/filtration, but with quick and reasonable shipping.
