Anyone know if there is a way to get apple CarPlay on a 2016 RS7?

I think 2016 MMI is upgradable to support CarPlay. Someone can confirm on that or you can check with your local dealership.

Otherwise I would just do screen mirroring solution and call it done. It’s not perfect but works just fine for the stuffs I usually use.

There was a thread on this forum for that but from my own experience there was a flaw in that setup since a handful of times Amazon parts don’t work as they are intended to work so I had to make a little change and here are what I ended up with working 100% of time with the picture and sound are mirrored to MMI screen and sound system while also charging the phone.

I was looking at the thread as well and wanted to see if anyone was able to figure out how to run a setup where you can play music from an iPod that's attached to the Lighting AMI cable and also connect a wireless adapter so you can mirror the video from a phone while still listening to music from the iPod?

This is a screenshot my friend took for me the other day. You literally can mirror everything from your phone to display on the MMI screen. The big advantage for me is projecting Google Map navigation onto the screen and that works much better than the clunky Audi navigation system.

I don't think that is possible. Audi AMI can physically interface with one equipment at a time so when you run my setup then the media is hooking up with external video source only. Anyway, this setup is based on the interface in C7 (upto 2015) which doesn't come with USB ports. Not sure how the video interface will play out for C7.5.

Not possible with C7.5 because it only has the usb ports, you have to get something like a navtool to get screen mirroring, Ill be installing this when I get my car back from the body shop in a couple weeks.

Thank you. I watched EPL matches live a lot when I was younger but get to watch a lot less ever since I moved to the states.

I don’t like any of them either but my wife is Liverpool fan so that match gave me a lot of materials lol

Based on the screen shots I have seen, it appears that you just switch the MMI dial like normal. It's just a source from the media side.

Yeah my stuff arrives tomorrow. Car is in the shop now getting some more love items but I should be able to test by the weekend. One thing nnot listed here is the cigarette lighter to USB and the USB to the adaptor cord. Assumed that most people have that but just pointing it out.

You can definitely mirror Waze onto the screen. This setup is so simple that it projects whatever on your phone onto MMI screen.

No, you can't. My setup is only different media source that happens to be video+audio feeding from iPhone so you will be stuck with that source only.

This set up would allow you to use apps other than the CarPlay apps but doesn’t give you any hands free capabilities...with CarPlay it’s nice that you can access everything through the MMI controls at least

Saw your other thread and your effort to custom build Android OS with CarPlay MMI modules. While it's great, I personal found it too much money to spend and screen mirroring setup is good enough for me. In total I paid less than $100 for this solution.

I just put the items you posted together. Very simple and inexpensive as you say. I get my car back tomorrow and will test. I will post pics of the results but looking at it, it appears to be the perfect solution for me too. Streaming video for the kids, watching sporting events and running google maps is exactly what I am looking for.

Did you see a difference is sound quality when mirroring? Seems like for me to have google maps running and listening to Spotify i would keep it on the same source setting

I really have to pay close attention to notice the difference in sound quality from digitally connect to iPod via MMI red cable and to my ears the quality is about the same as bluetooth streaming. Unfortunately, in your C7.5 car which comes with 2 USB ports instead of AMI port I don't know how to do screen mirroring.

So I got this all working but a couple things that aren't so great about this setup:

1) Your phone screen must be on all the time.
2) The phone has to be in a landscape view in order for this to look properly on your display.

It’s a screen mirror so not much we can do about both of your concerns. I think you can keep some app like Waze opening to keep screen on at all time.
