I have my Audi braking guard activated in MMI and early warning checked. In the past I saw almost daily warnings when I followed someone too closely. However, the last few days I did not get any warnings even though I was pretty close to some cars in front of me. I made sure braking guard and early warning were still on in MMI. My ACC works fine. It follows the car in front of me and slows down/stops as the car in front. I did an auto scan in VCDS and no error codes are found. I didn't drive the car for about two weeks while I was on vacation. Just prior to that I had my TCU re-flashed to 3500 rpm max launch limit. This was after I broke my rear axle launching at 3750 rpm on APR stage 2 100 octane file and the repair of the axle. Any ideas what could be the cause of braking guard not giving me early warnings anymore? I don't really want to rear end someone trying to test if it would engage without the early warning. Even though the early warning was annoying sometimes, it gave me the confidence that the system was on and working. Now I'm very skeptical that the system even works. Don't really want to go to the dealership right away as it involves a prior visit to the APR dealer the flash back to stock and the downpipes will still give the dealership a good hint that the car usually isn't stock.

Is early warning the flashing red icon in the speedometer?

Yes, and in the HUD if you have it and activated that option.

When I was having trouble with the braking guard (in my case it was forcing the car to a complete stop before it would allow me to accelerate again), doing the 3 button reset of the MMI seemed to fix it, as the next time it activated after doing that, it was fine.

Hmm this sounds familiar. When I'm using ACC in stop & go traffic, and the car has to come to a complete stop, it doesn't seem to start moving again until I tap on the gas. In the first month I owned the car I did not have to do this. Going to look into this reset option

FYI, the reset method is in the manual and in this thread:
