yeah, that's a pretty typical price, actually a tad low considering it's a Vr6. Make sure timing chains have been done.

yeah, the jetta III just like the Golf III are pretty cheap
but that caprice is kinda cool
but not as cool as an Impala SS!!

I have an MK2 jetta. They are even cheaper and they are a lot of fun. I was going to use it as a project car and track it out, but I am selling it for money so I can do some more things to the A4. Any ways..You could probably find one around the 1200 - 2500 dollar range. The one that I have has been a really good car and it was fun to drive. It was really realible, the onyl thing that gave me problems was the turn signals. Electricals are a common thing to go out on older V dubs. It depends on what you're lookign for but if you want a good track or project car, I would go with a MKII golf or Jetta.[up]
