Hi all, I'm a proud new owner of a 2015 Audi S4 6MT.

What modifications can I do without voiding the CPO warranty I have?

Also what modifications do people consider are the best bang for buck?

Thanks

Only mods that won't void warranty are intake and cat back exhaust.

That said, best bang for the buck is a Stage 1 flash!

Even the intake and exhaust can be questionable. Avoid anything that makes more power if you want to be 100% safe. You're looking at suspension and cosmetic mods really. Sways are good. Coilovers are amazing. If you plan to track or autocross, get a good set of tires and upgrade your brake compound.

Suspension mods are more likely to void warranty on bearings, cv joints and bushings. Cat back exhaust voids nothing, and the intake takes all of 5min to put back if you are worried. Get yourself a Chipwerkes and make sure you remove it and clear codes before service.

As I recall, after working at a dealer for 15 years, You cannot touch or modify ANY sensor on the vehicle or warranty is void. There are no sensors from the intake to the throttle body so you are fine. Ditto for the cat back exhaust. The most they can do is say they wont warrant any exhaust leak of your aftermarket exhaust. As far as the intake goes, there is nothing saying you cant run a different air filter other than the OEM specified. Changing those will get you nice sound and around 10-20 more HP.

Do you have any suggestions for a good:

RS4 Grille
Lip Spoiler
Rear Diffusor
Front lip

Looking for a compromise on price and quality

All of those are well covered in the first couple pages, just scroll down and enjoy!

To be 100% safe you can only do cosmetic mods like tints, front lip, spoiler. Best bang for the buck is Stage 1 ECU flash.

Mods without voiding CPO Warranty, Cost effective Mods

No such thing, the only cost effective mods are really Stage 1 or 2 and those void much of your warranty

You can spend $3,000 on nice intakes and exhausts and get negative 10 to add'l 20hp tops (but much better sound)

For less than 3K Stage 2+ will net you about 120hp, you can do the math

Not 100% sure of chipwerkes, if it raises the rpm limit then they can see that even if you remove it before you go in.

Either wait until you get near the end of your warranty or take the plunge now and have $$ set aside for items that may not be covered

Eventually I wanted to change the window trim to red, as well as the border around the RS4 Grille, and also add the quattro on the Grille red as well. I was thinking of doing the line underneath the fog lights as well. I've got the Magma Red interior so I was thinking of trying to color coordinate that. Thoughts of how to do that?

Thanks for the input, all. I will do an ECU tune when the warranty is out.. in about 6 years, lol

It does not change rpm only boost requests.

I'd buy he exhaust used or like me build your own for less money.

You purchased a 2015. It sounds nuts, but an ECU tune might already be on your car. Although very rare, an Audi tech may miss it, even during the CPO inspection process. Carmax will for sure miss it. I've heard of it happening before.

As much as I'd like to build my own, I'd say I'm technically challenged

Looks like Chipwerke might be the only one then

Used exhausts and intakes will be still be close to 2K for minimal to no gains

Technically I meant source the parts and take to a muffler shop and have them mandrel bend the pipes and weld together.

Would be pretty awesome if it was already tuned, and yeah I hear the exhaust is a good starting place. Any advice for the red trim? I wouldn't want it to be gaudy, just subtle touches here and there.

Luckily I have a great performance muffler shop whom made mine with custom dp's for far less than that.

One guy even built his own intake from parts.
Anything is possible.

I have been on AZ for quite a while, I doubt you will get much support on the red trim! Red accented carbon fiber interior pieces was about the only time I have seen that pulled off.

What color is your car?

It's black, so I was thinking it would be a great color combination, I'll try and see if I can find some pictures around the internet of similar cars

Say around the wheels, around the Grille, red lettering on the quattro I wanna put on, maybe on the mirrors, and the window trim

Wow, pricey! Could I recoup some money selling the stock exhaust or is it better to keep it for when I am returning to the dealer for services?

You will never switch for dealer visits, and no one will buy it. If you can store it case you sell the car the aftermarket exhaust will have some value. Best to buy it used or build as no one ever sees anything but the tips. Just do your research on the sound you want.

Alright, and it won't make me go TD1?

B18b1ex
07-30-2017, 09:29 AM
TD1 is for ECU tunes, I have never heard of anyone having issues with the exhaust except if you complain of rattles in the cabin after it's installed. You can ask your SA he can further guide you on your dealer.

Appearance is so personal, people may not like my Estorill blue with bronze wheels, carbon fiber bits, red brakes and red bike racks.

Personally i'm not a fan, did not like on the civic type R either when I saw it.

Stock exhaust will get you $150 max. Just keep it.

No matter what the costs its not cost effective is my point, which is what hes asking for. Even $700 if you install it yourself (which he can't), would be about $70 per hp

APR Stage 1 is about $1,350 for 90 hp, thats about $15 per hp

Pickup a used EPL program your looking at $10 per hp

Used Chipwerke would be about $5 per hp

Once again its Chipwerke, why the hell did I buy APR ?[confused]

I think the most important part for him is not voiding his CPO that said I suggested the CW, and as far as cost effective,I personally feel the exhaust puts the next biggest smile on my face and finally the intake whine. But hey it's all personal. [emoji51]
