Did the fuel pump recall 24BZ a month ago and today the fuel is dripping!

Came home from work today and parked the car on the driveway. I noticed some unusual gasoline smell. I looked down and it's dripping fuel from the underside of the car!!

Called Audi roadside assistance and they will be coming soon to pick up the car and transport it to my local dealer who did the recall.

Is it safe to assume that this is definitely related to the recall and has anyone else experienced something similar?

Yes, they did same thing to my car. The locking ring that seals the fuel tank was not seated correctly. Basically 1/3 not sealed. When I filled it the car I could smell gas, then I realized it was dripping from top of tank.

Took me 15minutes to fix once I identified the problem.

Thanks. How did you tighten the locking ring? I thought it needed a special tool for that? Here is a photo I took last night. The fuel is definitely leaking from the ring.

I took a hammer and the back of a screw driver to tap the tabs until it seated fully.

I looked at yours and I would guess that gasket/seal needs to checked.

I circled the tabs that I tapped.

Btw do not use anything that may spark, because you know explosion hazards and driveway fumes.

Thanks. The car is at the dealer now and they won't be able to figure it out until Monday....
