Little bit of background, I had a B7 A4 FWD Sedan in high school. Worked my ass off to keep that car clean. Sold it at about 100k miles in 2012 in order to get a truck that we needed for the family business.

Spent the next few years in the truck life, had a lot of fun modding and building a kickass rig, all the while working for an aftermarket retailer in the offroad world. Then I finished school, got a job with a tier 1 OEM supplier for BMW, Mercedes, KIA, Hyundai, Nissan, etc.

Life changed, no longer needed the truck, and we ended up with a few MINI's. Two of which we still have, my wife's 2015 Cooper S, and my 2004 Cooper S, the cheap runaround/future track toy. I sold the much more expensive Countryman and rolled that money into buying our first house. Adulting....

Something I couldn't shake is how much I missed my first Audi, and I always wanted an Avant. Sooooo I went out and bought what I thought was a pretty good find. 2008 6MT A4 Avant, 120,000 miles, Stage 2 APR, everything else stock. Only real downside, it was a Michigan car. I knew there would be issues because of that environment, I had it would be on the better side of the scale, turns out there was a bit more rust than I'd hoped...

The body is good, the chassis is good, powertrain is pretty good as well, minus a small oil consumption issue (the easiest fix for me). The brake calipers, control arms, bushings, springs, shocks, were all affected by the corrosion. So here begins the long road to restoration, enjoy!

Coilovers, control arm kit, BBK should take care of all of that. What are your plans for the car?

You should come to Canada and see what the salt does to our cars [=(]

Step ahead of you. First order of business, replacement spindles, bearings, control arms, bushings, mounts, hardware, brake pads(for now) etc. Gonna have to drop the rear subframe due to the damn pressfit nuts for the upper control arms.....

New H&R adjustable coilovers, and rear springs/shocks.

After I get the suspension sorted out, wheels, tires, color change wrap. Then eventually maybe clutch, big turbo, etc.

It's actually a pretty legit track car, all function over form. Buddy of mine.

Just a few photos from the last few weeks work.

None of the bushings had completely separated, but most had some large cracks and some definite weak spots.

One of the new front sway bar bushings, much better.

This was pretty terrifying to find. It appears that at some point the lower hoop of the rear spring rusted through and cracked. Luckily the lower mount still centers the spring and it was only the inner hoop but still, scary.

New Coilovers fully assembled with the new mounts, hardware, and control arms.

Plus the 034 Motorsports Adjustable Rear Sway that's going in.

The last big step in this process is completing the rear suspension. Unfortunately, that requires me to drop the rear subframe to deal with this damn press-fit nut for the upper mount of the upper control arm....... That's going to happen Saturday morning hopefully, and a buddy of mine will be welding the nut back on.

034 Motorsports Density line fronts. Basically an OEM equivalent, either way, MUCH better than trashed ones. https://store.034motorsport.com/control-arm-kit-density-line-b6-b7-audi-a4-s4-rs4.html

Plus some MOOG upper arms for the rear. Plus the 034 Rear sway bar.

Spent the day dropping the rear subframe, and having a buddy weld the press-fit nut for the upper control arm back onto the frame. Oh so close to the finish line.

Upper control arm bolts are once again usable, and the new MOOG arms are in place. All the other rear bushings appear to be in good condition so I'm only replacing hardware.

Tomorrow the subframe goes back in, along with the 034 Rear Sway and the H&R springs and shocks.

Unfortunately years of Michigan salt and snow have not been kind to the APR catback's flex pipe. It tore in half as I was separating the midpipe from the center muffler.....

2.5" replacement flex pipe from Summit is on order and will get welded in beginning of next week, but in the meantime my B7 sounds like a dump truck with no exhaust. No way I could drive it like that.

Not the best pictures but I finally got everything rebuilt and on the car.

Everything is much tighter and feels like a new car. Except that it still handles like a boat thanks to the cheap, dry rotted snow tires. But that will be remedied soon...

Bit of a jump ahead, here's how she sits today. 19x9 ET40 Neuspeed RSE102's wrapped in 235/35/19 Hankook Ventus V12's. Love this car.

And for the record, your Ute build is absolutely epic.
