So far loving the kit great power bump compared it stage 1!

Dru from jhm really helped me with all my questions and helped me to get all the logging done. As I have never done any of this before !

Its been covered before but there customer service is awesome
My tune wasn't on the server but that wasn't a issue for them they had it up with in 12 hours ! Even tho they were closed !

Any way back to to build

Next mods will be sorting out all my mounts
Getting a shifter and cross rod sorted

Now any suggestions for breaks ? Don't want to run wheel spacers if possible [emoji1303]

Water meth I'm still learning about. Any one have pics of it installed in there car ? Wanna see how noticeable it is in the engine bay

Thanks guys can't wait to see some suggestions because I'm sure Iv overlooked something that needs upgrading

Yeah it's definitely great to drive now
My best 0-100 km is 4.6
Hopefully better mounts and 110 octane tune can help lower that [emoji848]

did you hear a difference with the sound deadening?

brock2428
07-06-2017, 07:49 AM
Yeah there was some Definitely some reduction
But noting to go crazy about

It's more noticeable when driving on the highway.

I may go to a 18" resonators
I asked from them but just checked and the exhaust shop only used 12"

I still need to do the rest of the interior i just did one rear door seeing i was replacing the glass. The exhaust seems fine when sitting in front but a little loud in the rear. I might have to check and make sure its not touching some where.

Hi mate
Unfortunately I'm not from Sydney I'm from forster

I had my local mechanic install the kit as he does all my work
Since the kit was so compleat and the instructions were great he was able to knock it over with no troubles

The down pipe I ordered from jhm when I did my turbo order also with the quad tip mufflers and then I got a custom mid pipe made up

Im guessing between 295-312whp so I will just say 304whp on pump gas, if your running a 110octane tune I will guess 332whp

Hmm so how much hp and torque are you putting down? Is that at the wheels or crank?

EvolutionArmory
07-28-2017, 08:01 PM
200 kilowatts is 268HP

701nm is 517 foot pounds.

183kw is 245 hp
500nm is 368

Doesn't seem quite right unless the conversion charts I used are wrong.

EvolutionArmory
07-28-2017, 08:28 PM
If a 3600 pound car can do a 1/4 mile in 12.142 seconds, that's 397 hp. If you factor in a 20% drivetrain loss, that's still 317 at the wheels.

These dyno numbers seem kind of all over the place.

brock2428
07-28-2017, 09:16 PM
So I'll give you a little back story I drove 3 hours to the dyno and told the guy I wanted to to cool down and spray the intercooler so it wasn't so heat soaked
He went and strapped it on and just started to do pulls so The power figures probably aren't correct
182 kw and 500 nm of tq to the wheels
Also I said 3 gear and he did 4th

And the pulls where literally back to back so it would of been really bad heat soaked
Definitely not a accurate reading
Pretty annoyed with they dyno go to be honest

-brock

How is your boost curve looking? Does it peak high in midrange and tappers fast down to redline?

brock2428

Spike 22 and hold 20 until red line

I %100 agree with you don't think he set the dyno up right and he didn't let it cool down properly
Trying to organise another dyno day soon
At a different shop

I'll soak the intercooler before each run and let it cool down

Okey, I do the exact same, peak at 22 and hold 20psi to redline, turbo is EFR6758, havnt dyno the car but virtualdyno shows around 300whp. And MAF peaks at 300-310g/s

aha
Do you need the gear ratios to get them on the dyno chart?
From what ive figured it should be
1: 3.667
2: 2.053
3: 1.423
4: 1.065
5: 0.853
6: 0.730 (6-Spd)
Final Drive: 3.89:1

Yeah my exhaust is a jhm hfc - jhm down pipe but I had my exhaust shop make a custom one back form the bottom of the down pipe which has 2 12 inch resonators then to jhm quad tips

I may change to 18" resonators

It depends on what you want to do with the car. If you're daily driving it as well as autocross or track racing with high revs, it's probably better to cut the shafts or remove the gear. The reasoning behind this is that when the engine is oil starved the shafts are usually first to go which can wreak havoc on the rest of the engine. It doesn't matter if you have a new or old pump, it just depends on what you plan on doing with the car.

But Iím not gonna go crazy with high revs at this stage

Also why would I cut out my balance gears out on a brand new pump
Itís got a long life before Iíll have any oil issues and I would replace it before they come up anyway

You wouldn't. You did the right thing by buying a brand new OEM pump. You run into problems when you build your motor and throw in your tired old pump or throw in a pump that isn't meant for the car. You'll have no issues with that new OEM pump, at least not for a very long time.

If I ever build the block on my car I'll just do drop in rods and a brand new OEM oil pump. It will suck to chew down 1600 bucks for the new OEM pump but I feel it's the right move.

Itís good to finally hear some support !

I was just gonna do rods but I was one of the lucky ones that got the great pistons rings installed form factory ! So I decided to go ahead and do it all

My car has really even compression, well over 200 psi so the block appears to be pretty healthy. Drop in rods, new rings, a light hone and a new oil pump should be more than enough.

If you do too much without good reason, it seems people run into problems. Especially since the rods and the oil pump really seem to be the limiting factors so I'm only going to focus on them.

It will be a while before I even consider engine work though. I've got some running issues to sort out with my K04 before I even go there.

Very true !
I think mine was like 140 across all 4 last time I got it done and a leak down test showed the rings where on there way out

Will still be awhile before the work starts to happen !
Still need to go to strip on the stock block and see what I can do

Small update

Another package arrived at my door from JHM

JHM B7 S4 rotors
Hawk ceramic pads
Jhm s/s lines
Hpa manifold
Jhm boost gauge

And some small maintenance parts

So the plan is to do my brakes and then early next year the car should be at the shop getting all engine work sorted out
I will also be using b8 s4 brakes

For those that donít know my build will consist of
Ie h beam rods
Cp pistons 83 mm stock comp
Mahle race bearings and rod bearings
Arp head studs
Arp crank bolt
Fluidamper pully
Hpa intake manifold
Aem water meth
Brand new 2.0t oil pump
Jhm 340 Lph fuel pump
Pm3 fuel pump controller

Also in the mists if organising a spare transmission getting rebuilt at jhm for when the one I have fails

The shop will take care of everything
And they will be tuning it as well

Hoping to max out the turbo or the injectors we will see what comes first
Hoping for 300-320 atwkw

Cheers guys here are some more pics https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180917/f7b73adbea2cfa3db940315209d7e233.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180917/c93c9ff27662666040eb7da73d2b80f7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180917/b8e8b5860dbbb73b37a09149446db9b5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180917/4b9fcf1ca3dd796d5fb46b32d5bbbf7b.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180917/ab6bb8b4bd0f0a58c16d6139b609640f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180917/9a72b4bb2e05ec85533a4e529d084ff5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180917/682148b4b2ff42414786a5bfefa8c44e.jpg

Got the brakes fitted up
They came up pretty good
Happy with the feel and out come

Small note if anyone is looking to do this normally you use the b8 s4 front ss lines and cable tie them up out of the way but when I ordered mine from jhm they sent me the rears as well. The rears are slightly smaller so I used them on the front and didnít have to worrie about cable tieing them

Have you heard that Torqbyte replaced the PM3 with the PM4? It might be more versatile for your fueling needs.

Iím also curious as to how the HPA intake manifold works out for you. Iíd like to get one but I think Iím running on the ragged edge of stock bottom end safety and fuel supply to take advantage of increased airflow. Iím running stock rods and the stock fuel pump with a RS4 controller. I donít think I can run that manifold efficiently yet.

Iím excited that i decides To get the intake manifold
Will have w/m heaps easy and if I run out of injectors I can run another 4 now with the intake

Instead of being placed in between the stock FPCM and the pump like the PM3 is, the PM4 replaces the FPCM completely. They have plug and play adapters for a variety of cars.

Iíll probably run a PM4 with TTRS guts in an OEM basket if the RS4 control module and stock pump starts to slip up on me.

Check out the PM3/PM4 differences and see if the PM4 will be better for you. It would be best to do it now than after installing it all and finding out the PM3 isnít quite the answer.

I would speak to torqbyte b4 using rs4 controller as the oem unit. They had suggested that I abandon that unit and use the oem A4 as it will allow the pm or cm units better transition between the 2 controllers.

You may want to also look at the CM5 as it can control 2 fuel sources in 1 unit, and also has additional outputs for those looking to use both fuel and w/m at the same time this will allow more options for controlling individual nozzles. Just food for thought.

If I run a Torqbyte product it will be a PM4, which completely replaces the stock/RS4 FPCM. No need to worry about the stock or RS4 controller because it wonít be there. It will be on EBay. 😀

I believe that is the main difference between the PM3 and PM4. The PM3 works in line between your controller and the fuel pump. The PM4 completely removes the Audi controller from the whole situation. That is probably explains why itís 2X the price of the PM3.

Watch the install video on TBís website. It installs in like 15 minutes and they remove the GTI controller completely from the car. The hardest part would be running the power lines to the battery and thatís just time consuming if you want a clean install.

True, Pm4 seems awesome.
The PM3 is useless with the OEM A4 controller, you would need a rs4 controller or cm5-lt or J538x in front of it to have a usefull LP system.
reason OEM a4 controller sux is you only get 65% duty out of it, but wait a minute you might say.. "when logging block 231 i see my duty go as high as 90%++".. nope this is what the ECU is commanding, but at the pump it would only peak at 65% because the rescale function insisde the a4 oem controller. RS4 controller doesnt have this issue to this degree. so there is actually 35% gain in duty which is possible by having a torqbyte cm5, J538x or PM4, but a PM3 wont do anything about the duty it will only handle more amps and you wont draw more amps with for example the OEM pump without increasing the duty.
Almost nobody knows about this information so I try to spread it each time I see it relevant.

The PM4 looks like they jammed the J538 module in with the PM3. 2 in 1.

Just today I starting taking a look at my low pressure fueling and its not keeping up.

I have the Boost Manager Plus driving and controlling the OEM LPFP. I need to find a solution.

Correct it is boosting the pump with extra amps, and wired into the controller. 4 wires running from the BM+ to the pump and controller.

Is there a way to determine what the pump duty cycle actually is compared to the requested? I am still trying to wrap my head around all of this, but it is my understanding that the BM+ functions similarly to the PM3 (driving the pump), and CM5 (controlling the pump). Here is a screen grab of the BP+ LPFP duty map.

No there is not, you will need to calibrate your duty cycle table so its meets the request pressure you can log it in block 231, just ignore the duty % in the third colum its not a actual value sent to the pump itself.

al3k
10-21-2018, 04:35 AM
are you using the OEM pump?
Im not sure whats possible with the BM+ but with the CM5 I can set a setpoint RPM and boost at which the CM5 will take over the control of the pump this means I dont have to calibrate all the low loads values so while daily driving and cruising it follows the ecu as oem, and then when I floor it, say everything after 3000rpm and 8psi will follow a custom duty cycle table using MAP and RPM axis kind of simular to yours

texasboy21
10-21-2018, 06:42 AM
Thatís for this! Iíll continue to dig and see what exactly the BM+ is capable of.

I believe it is the OEM pump.

I have the ability to do that as well. Do you mind sharing (or messaging me) a little bit about how to you have the duty cycle mapped?

I am hoping that I can drop in an uprated pump, and use the BM+ to control and drive the LPFP rather than replacing it with a TorqByte solution.

its pretty much what I said above, I do WOT and log while watching block 231, best to be two so one can keep and eye on the road while the other one monitor computer. you wil also need to log boost.
if actual LP goes under spesified LP then release throttle and find the point in the log, look at your boost and rpm in the log where LP dropped and increase duty in that cell in the BM+ software, do this step by step and try to predict the closest cell values untill you have most of the table where you engine is operating mapped complete.
it doesnt need to be spot on, but within 0.5bar should be good, I pretty much just aim for 4.5 - 5 bar across the rpm range, and you would want the ECU to control the pump when you are not in boost.
