8" tall is the max you want under the s4 bumper. from what dvs1.8t told me the greddy (my intercooler) which fits under the s4 bumper without any cutting is 8" tall. i would imaging a 10" tall intercooler, you would have to cut the bumper reinforcement. stick to 8" or less.

the intercooler is 25/10/2.5 So you guys dont think i could cut out enough to fit 2 extra inches in?

i had to cut a reasonable amount to fit 8"x2.75?" and I don't think 10" would fit.

i was talking about the S4 bumper i now have

that's an 8". You might fit 10" since you're 2.5" thick but i know that i couldn't fit 10" with 2.75 (maybe 9) without cutting the actual bumper skin.

Alen: how wide is your intercooler? also what did u cut out to fit that intercooler? and is the bottom of your bumper sagging because of your intercooler ? thanks i was looking for you because i rememebr seeing that pic of ur car but didnt remember what your username was. thanks

I just want an intercooler that will fill up the center pening like yours does but i dont want to to go too far into the sode grills like yours does. what dimensins would you suggest, thanks again

Core size: 25 wide X 7.75 tall X 2.75 deep

Overall: 30 from outside of end tank to outside of end tank X 8.5 tall X 3.125 at the thickest

I had to cut out a decent amount of the support bar and cut slightly into some little brackets. that pic is from the first installation but moving the IC slightly up resolved the bottom part sagging. going more than 8" tall is really pointless because the limited bumper openings won't provide any extra ambient airflow to the blocked area. I really couldn't see myself fit 10" tall core with that bumper without seriously hacking it. I wouldn't even put the 8" I have there de[ending on the turbo setup ofcourse.

thanks alot alen, i guess i'll go with a smaller core. would that fact that the core i am looking at is only 25" from endtankt to endtank makeit fit easier then yours?

slightly but you'll still have to cut more than i did. if you can, get a smaller core. what turbo setup is this going with?

Well a shorter length core will need less cutting done to the bumper support because the support is curved. This means the longer the core is from end to end the more of the support will needed to be cut. Plus the fact that a longer core adds more pressure drop and most of the cooling is done in the first 6" of the core at the inlet side.
