View Full Version : 'FUSE' displayed on odometer

This has me struck. It's a 2001 A4 2.8MT for reference.

When I turn the car on 'FUSE' is displayed on the odometer and a buzz occurs every 30 seconds or so. The car is currently in service position. The fuses appear to be fine; I even changed a couple and no luck. The instrument cluster is apparently not getting any power, no gauges are working currently. Could it be shot?

I need some ideas.

I hate electric ****!

I've never seen the fuse warning. Do feel free to post a picture.

I've done a little research and haven't found too many people with the aforementioned issue. I will post a picture asap.

Never heard of this issue before either. Awaiting pics myself, due to curiosity reasons.

Did any of your gauges work? That scares the hell out of me!

Volt meter appears to be pinned to maximum. Hmm.

Yep. I have absolutely no idea. I've done a little research and haven't had much luck. Any ideas what could cause that?

If that was the case for me that would be fine. I'm not so much worried about my tachometer or speedometer, but I don't think I would trust driving any car with out a thermostat.

This was my first Audi. I adore this thing like no other, even though it's no where near the best of shape. I just want to drive it again because it was such a fun car to drive. I'm tired of driving an automatic. I'm also having issues bleeding my power steering after replacing the pump with a junk yard pump. I think it's the cheap high pressure hose clamps I put on the supply hose to the pump. I finally have a little time and money and it will be going on this! Other than these two issues I am certain I can yank a lot more miles out of this car. It only has 135,000 miles!

Damn that is a ton of miles [o_o]

From what I'm reading from previous posts it's a 10amp fuse (Fuse 14 (?)) for the instrument cluster. You'll have to pull it and replace it and see if that does the trick.

The power of German engineering. [wrench]

Thanks a lot for the share, I will pick up another set of fuses and try my luck. I promise I searched! I didn't find anything related to the A4 model, just a bunch of posts regarding the Audi TT and Dodge Neon (lol).
