I'd love to see Audi come out with a remote starter option like Mercedes has via the mbrace subscription service. I know that the MMI connect app allows you to do things like monitor vehicle health, start the auxiliary heater (not available in North america), etc. However, the mbrace app has the option of allowing you to start the vehicle via your smart phone too. Being able to cool down or warm up a vehicle a couple of minutes before getting into it would be a huge benefit to me.

If you look into this a bit, Audi's official response for years has hinged on two things:
1. a remote start compromises the security system's effectiveness (then they should probably sort that out, since so many others have)
and
2. It is illegal in Germany to have an unattended car running. Audi uses this defense saying that since it would be an illegal option in Germany, they don't produce it...
The arguments may be weak, but at least they're consistent.

I'd just like the seat heater not to step down from the high setting after 5 minutes or so but most companies (Audi included) seem to think their customers aren't smart enough to turn down the heat if they get too warm.

Unfortunately, some idiot who keeps the seat heater at high setting for hours will end up suing for a burnt out behind... Morons ruin it for everyone else.

that's my ultimate worst gripe about the audi
every other car I have owned puts me in control of the seat heater setting
but my audi knows best and turns it down
why can't they give us access to these features to enable and disable in the mmi ?
with the standard disclaimer
so if I chose to disable it and toast my ass, it's my responsibility

Mercedes offers a factory remote start feature through their mbrace smartphone app. I'd be happy with BMW's auxiliary heater and ventilation option that lets you turn on the heater or start the fans to circulate air in the car through the smartphone. Even offering the auxiliary heater that Audi has in Europe would be nice.I know they don 't because people would turn the heater on in their garage and then end up killing their entire family due to CO poisoning.

Thanks, yeah I know about that and the Viper Smart Start system. Ideally I'd like an OEM system from the factory like Mercedes has.
