Hello,

I purchased a pre-owned audi 2012 A6 C7 2.8quattro with 60K km ( Warranty period got over but the gearbox was still under warranty because it was replaced 10k before ). Since the first use i have to press the start button twice to start the car. I took for 75k service and told the adviser about this issue, He said this is the way to start the car but it sound fishy to me, Even hyundai has ability to start the car with 1 press. After 3 working days the adviser called me and said the engine flange is leaking needs replacement and even the gear box has some cooling value issue which lead to gearbox damage and rough shifting needs replacement. Even that moment i asked the advisor, will it fix the Starting issue. He said yes then may be. After 1 week i got my car and was happy the way it drives but start button issue was still there. This all happen back in 2016 Oct.

This year on March the car generating humming sound while driving at 87k . Took the car to local workshop he said it's the break, I replaced it. Sound still the same. Then i replaced both the wheel bearing and Sound still the same at the end i decided to take it to dealer. While inspecting they found there was a leak at the end of gear box where the diff rod is connected. They said gearbox needs replacement. After a week they called me and said the wiring loom cable fried and needs replacement connector will cost me 1600$ ( parts and labour ) and the advisor told me this will fix the starting issue. I asked them to produce with the repair. Almost 1 month 10 days at dealer now and they replaced the gearbox under warranty but the button start issue still the same even after replacing the wiring loom connector. Now they are talking about Canbus connecting issue with convenience module and needs replacement for 900 $.

When i check with OBDeleven found this errors since i purchased till now.

1.Central module comfort system
TCM No Signal/Communication
faulty code 01315 (1315)

2.Gateway
Lost communication with TCM
faulty code U010100 (4226)

3.Kessy
Comfort system central control module
faulty code 01330(1330)

(Only once i recieved this error)
1. Signal wire for tiptronic electrical error
faulty code P189000 (7969)

2.Interlock=>magnet short circuit to ground

I am fed up with this car now. Spend Almost 5500$ for tyre and suspension housing, battery etc + now this 1600+900 with in the 1st year of ownership. Even i am doubtful replacement this module will not solve the connectivity issue. FYI this is the 4th gearbox they are replacing within 89k km. I guess AUDI is not a reliable car.

Does anyone faced this issue before ?

The problems you are experiencing with the car are NOT typical of Audi.

Sounds to me like you have purchased a lemon. Was this purchased from an Audi dealer, as it also sounds like the dealer doesn't know what they are talking about regarding the push to start button.

You kinda wonder if this was a flood car or something. Electrical gremlins. Its now your option whether to repair it, or get rid of it. Did you ever get a car history for it like Carfax? I don't think this is the usual situation for most owners. 4th gearbox tells me its a lemon or terrible rebuilt unit. What is exactly the gearbox malfunction?
Also, the "advisor" knows nothing of cars. Some more than others. They just write up service job and communicate what the tech finds. They are the point of contact with you and shop. Sorry you happen to be the unlucky owner. If the dealer is really nice, you should be able to ask for ALL work done on your VIN and get a printout.

No, I didn't purchase from Audi dealer. The matter of fact many of the pre-certified Audi cars have been used as rent a car out here and very high priced as compare to market. Yesterday I visited the dealer and they apologise for the delay for my car as the comfort module not avaiable and will take 2 week to arrive from Germany. I spoke to the head of technical department, he said electronic can go bad at anytime. He mention you are the 3rd customer have this issue from past 10+ years and my case is currently under process in Germany. Anyways they provide me A4 as loner after 1 month 7 days.

Even I doubt it's a flooded car but before purchasing I had look under the car and there was no rust found, even checked this dealer for car history . The old owned told me that he faced an accident and replaced the front bumper and passanger door but there was not sign of radiator hit or engine. The engine is perfect and has no problem so far just once faced EPC error and got cleared by adding fuel cleaner.
