Intermittent Traffic Data via MMI

Every few weeks, there really seems to be no specific cycle, the MMI decides to provide curent trafic data. Color coded freeway displays, etc.
I also get this in the info menu:

It'll run for a few days then disappear for weeks and weeks. I do not subscribe to Audi Connect.
When I first bought the car (a 2012 A6 I grabbed in December of 2015) the info was provided for about 90 days. I wrote it off to a trail subscription to Audi Connect or some such thing.

But its intermittent recurrence-now going on a couple of years-is baffling. Anyone else experienced this?

Usually it means that Sirius is having a promotion. So, ALL receivers are getting a limited amount of channels, which happens to include traffic data. The promotions normally last a week, but sometimes up to a month.

Hell, I can't believe I didn't put it together that it ran through SIRIUS. Thanks for the info!

I believe the current Sirius promotion lasts through the end of the month. I noticed the same thing.
