View Full Version : missfiring problems

Well heres my problem, i've had the GTRS kit since august and im starting to work out some of these bugs. ATP supplied me with the bosch f7ltcr plugs and for a while it started missfiring. Never enough to get a CEL or throw any codes. I logged blocks 14,15&16 and it would only missfire once it got up to operating temperature and only at idle. And it only seemed to be misfiring from cyl 1. So i changed out the plugs for ngk bkr7e and gapped at .028". I started the car up and took her for a spin. Let it get to operating temps and i logged blocks 14,15&16 and only missfired once on cyl 1 with me bouncing the rpms trying to make it missfire. The new plugs definately are better than the bosch's i had in there. The car seems to pull alot harder and responds better. I dont have a CEL nor did i ever have one from the missfiring, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I changed my plugs and i still missfire but it is only at idle once the car is warm. Its not nearly as bad as the other plugs, and it doesn't throw any codes when it does missfire. With my new plugs in i have only noticed once that it missifired.

.028, is this the right gap for the plugs?

It's ok, on the tight side. It shouldn't be blowing out, especially unloaded.

Sounds like cold plugs, rich mix... aka really safe and/or half assed fuel management.

IT's a 99, AEB. With the ngks in now it is running alot better but did notice one missifre. I have the atp GTRS kit so i figured to use 1 heat range colder and wanted to get rid of the bosch's.

Also when i logged the car and said i had a missifire on Cyl. 1 should that throw a CEL or a code because i am not getting anything for codes or a CEL.

colder plugs r likely to make u misfire on start ups i always got that with my k04 and it would go away after a few seconds.
