View Full Version : Is there a way to keep exhaust valves open?

My brother just got a RS7 Performance with Akrapovic exhaust and I'm trying to help him with this. I know on other Audi's like the R8's I had you could plug vacuum lines to keep valves open but I read valves controlled electronically on RS7. Is there a fuse or something else I could pull? Also I have a vagom if that helps. His new RS7 Titanium edition and my R8 replacement. Thanks in advance.

Cete exhaust valve controller gives you more control of the valves. Always open, always closed (even on start up) and auto mode. I installed this on my S7 and works great.

If the Akra is the same as standard or Milltek connection then you can pull the valve connections (and tape them up to prevent dirt) but it will throw an error in VCDS. You can get a valve delete module which plugs into the valves from Milltek and similar to keep them open and it keeps the error clear.
This little guy right here does the trick and keeps your options open for still controlling the valves:
Controller Package | Exhaust Valve (https://europrice.us/controller-package-a6-s6-rs6-exhaust-valve)
Dynamic - Valves are Fully Open at All RPM (Also starts with valves open when car restarted, no need to open them again)
Automatic - Standard Factory Valve Behavior
Comfort - Valves Remain Closed until 5000rpm
*Note that in any mode where the valves are closed they can be immediately opened without changing drive select modes with two quick presses of the ESP button.
If he wants the valves open all the time he can set the Drive Select on the exhaust to dynamic. When he starts the car up it will also revert to dynamic and the valves will be open. If he needs to close them for whatever reason the DS system is still intact.

Your brother (and you also) might want to try this sweet exhaust which I saw on the freeway yesterday: I think this guy actually think it looks good [emoji23] it stuck out like 2 feet from the back of the car

Thanks for the help guys, going to order the Cete control. Wont be racing, I have no idea why he bought this car since 60 mph is about as fast as he will go. He kept asking me to drive his car so he could hear the cool sounds it can make when driven aggressively, that is why he needs this so always open. I would have figured dynamic would have been always open? Any idea what they open at in that mode? Not worried about him sounding better than my Huracan with Fabspeed exhaust :).

Based on my experience they open at 3K

Just installed my CETE exhaust valve module. Maybe expensive for what it is...but does the job perfectly :).
Stays open in dynamic, closed in comfort. Remembers last position of valves after engine shutdown and restart.
Bonus: you can manualy open/close them by pressing ESP button twice (soon hopefully it works over programmed r8 steeringwheel with exhaust valve button).

Question guys. Whats the difference bw the cete exhaust valve module and the cete active sound module? Thanks

The active sounds is a controller for a noise generating system that mimics other exhaust notes, not a system we have in NA. It does not control the exhaust valves.

It's for diesel, sounds is coming from an electromechanical speaker in a box next to exhaust. I had this on my bitdi, works really great, much better than bmw system. Let me find a pic... the cete module allows you to play with different tones of that engine sound system.

Have you noticed a change in your gas consumption? Is this merely keeping your exhaust values open to sound louder or is there an increase in fuel consumption when for example the vehicle is idle in dynamic mode?

Haven't noticed much or any change in gas consumption.
Mostly driving in D, the only moment it maybe isn't running as susficient (on paper?) is when the engine is going into 4 cyclinder mode.
At least that is what i have read and understood, yet again haven't noticed any change (always hard to get a exact number).
