Last day or two I noticed what I perceived as a too hard auto-downshift from 7th to 5th during highway cruising. I'd probably drifted down from 80 to 70 so did not think much of it. Just a bit too sporty feeling if that makes sense.

So, I assume this Tranny Malfunction warning is somehow related. It said I could keep driving, but it's parked for the weekend and into dealer Monday morn. Would appreciate any experiences or thoughts. Car has 17k on odo and zero launches. Thx!

So you were cruising at 80 in 7th gear then you coasted down to 70 and it shifted to 5th?
Or you pressed the accelerator to make it shift to 5th?

Definitely did not downshift to accelerate. I was coasting or only let up a little. It was an unexpected shift.

Some of the earlier S6's had a leak that could cause a TCU plug to corrode and ultimately fail.

I have had some hard shifts, when I am in "sports" on top pf dynamic, noticeable hard so that I almost put up a post, but thought I would drive it some more to see if its going to keep doing it. Its happened maybe 3 time, all seems to be in third gear, when I am kinda coasting at the time, feel an abrupt shift either up into or down in to 3rd gear, kinda thuds, car does a slight jar, kinda like a teen learning to race his first stick car... I've got 27k on 2016 S7.

A sudden, unprompted, abrupt shift form 7th to 5th at 75 mph is definitely not normal. Keep us posted on dealer outcome.
