Hi everyone. I want to tint my tail light with an extremely light tint. I'm hoping that I can still have the red show though but with a slight smoke to them. I'm having trouble finding the right tint though. On amazon all the tint I can find says 50% or 35% darker. Do these ratings correspond to regular window tint ratings such as 35% means that 35% of light is let though the tint or does it mean that it blocks 35% of light? Does anyone have pictures of there tinted tail light? And if so, what % rating are they?

Thanks in advance.

50% is the lightest out of the 35-50% there are lighter window tints but I don't know if they offer lighter than 50% in taillight.

I'm also looking to do this to my A7, the stock lights are just a bit light for my taste. Hoping to get more of a deep ruby red like the RS7s have, interested to see how 50% works out for you.

I've used Lamin-X on 2 of my cars and they work great! Come pre-cut so all you have to do is install them. http://www.lamin-x.com/Customer-Gallery-s/1922.htm

I have laminX "tint" color on mine. It's their lightest tint, but I just wanted a little darker without going blackout. Looks good, and unless you know better, it's hard to tell it's tinted rather than just like that from the factory.

(hopefully the pic works...)

That looks great! I've already ordered some 50% from amazon for $7, so I'll give that a shat and see how it goes.

Looks good - ever consider cutting out the clear areas? I did that to my Audi and my SHO. My clear areas (turn signal & reverse) are on the bottom of the tail...

Nah...seemed like too much hassle to get just right...I did put in brighter (led) reverse bulbs though.
