Hi everyone new to the forum been always reading threads from here. Finally decided to join inn. So here is my dilemma I have a 2001 Audi A4 1.8T and on cold starts the car will start rough then smooth out within 5 seconds. Check engine came on pulled the code it was p0302. Already replaced all ignition coils, injectors, and spark plugs but car still starts with a rough idle but smooths out within 5 seconds and code p0302 comes up again it only happens in the first start up. If I start the car after it's been used it starts up fine. Any ideas? And thanks in Advanced.

Check compression numbers, see if cyl. 3 is drastically off from
the others.

Ok. Would you happen to know how many psi I should see for compression check?

You're really looking for a major deviation inbetween them. That is more important than the numbers being high. You can find more specific info on on the forums here reguarding acceptable numbers

Ok checked compression and it's good.. what i did notice is when I took spark plugs out cylinder #2 was a little damp I believe it is fuel as when I smell the smoke that comes out the tail pipe smells like gas.. checked the wires for connector on coils and #2 seem to have lost the insulation on 2 wires... they're not next to each other so I don't know if they are shorting out.. I'm gonna order some pig tail connectors on line solder them inn and hope that fixes my problem.

If the plug is wet with fuel you likely have an injector leaking fuel into the cylinder when it sits which will cause a misfire

I already had replaced the fuel injectors, coils, and spark plugs on it.. so i don't think the injector is the problem. Thanks anyways.

Okay I Got the Coil pack connectors in Monday. Cut the IOS ones off. Soldered new ones on.. but problem still persists... But now instead of the code being just P0302. Now it says multiple cylinder misfire and system too lean.. So the car will start of rough for the first few seconds then smooth out.. any ideas I would greatly appreciated thanks
