I have a Canadian 2016 2.0L, A6 Quattro, Technik, S-Line, 8 Speed Tiptronic, model 4G2XMA, and I am interested in finding out what the VAG tool can do for my specific model and trim? To set the stage, I have some hands on with VAG from when I had a Volkswagen, however it was an older VAG model that I sold 6 years ago, but I have some familiarity.

Obdeleven also very handy, cheaper and for most things very worth its price, userfriendly too.

Love the Ross Tech and bought the $450 10 VIN version.

If the new 3 vin non-wireless version had been out for $199 just two months ago I definitely would have gone that route. A much better buy.

The wireless/mobile device interface so far has been a pain in the rear to use so I just plug mine in directly to a laptop.

I hear good things about obdeleven but haven't tried it out.

I like knowing exactly what I change so that it can be changed back and I think the Ross Tech is better in that respect.

There is no alternative to VCDS

Just get it, as if you get anything else you will regret it shortly after.

May i friendly ask if you try out Obdeleven (pro)?
If not....stfu :).
....wait, you using iphone!!! my bad, you are right :). (end sarcasme).
Didn't want to cockfight, just make a point :).
Yes, VCDS is the golden standard when it comes to coding, but it is showing its age imho.
Yes i can easly just put in my dongle, open app on phone, scan, code, live data collect even if noob i can simply apply the most common and frequently used code mods.
No some advanced coding isn't possible
All depends what level, ease, whatever 'you' are looking for.
I picked the 60€ option and very happy with it (definatly not 'you get what you pay for')

Certainly think the $450 VCDS was a bit of a waste I wish they had the three vin $199 version before I bought mine.

Obdeleven seems cool and can do VIM. But I also like knowing exactly what I'm changing in case there is any future problem. Obdeleven isn't as transparent.

I have both VCDS and OBDEleven, for day to day use I think OBDEleven is easier to scan and clear stuff. VCDS can be buggy when they release new versions of the software and it hangs when trying to do an auto scan, when that happens I can poke around and clear stuff much faster with OBDEleven but it has its own limitation in deep coding and is Android only.

I have the slightly older VCDS that was unlimited VIN for 389 or something, they note the newer cords are better which may be what I experience with the version updates.

OBDeleven only gives you DTCs no soft codes. You cant test out your mmi system or other stuff.

There are in fact other tools other than VCDS. ECS sells one. I think Snap On has a $15K tool as well.
