Hey all.
I just purchased a cactus green Avant and it's in need of some control arms after I put the passenger side into the guard rail on storrow drive. I purchased a really cheap vaico kit from worldpac for the hefty price of 150$. Got the passenger side out without any trouble, seemed to have been recently replaced. My reason for replacing them was because the passenger side APPEARED bent in comparison to the driver's seat front upper straight arm. However, when I got the new arms out of the box they were curved JUST like the one I thought I had bent. I'm aware of the differences in the early vs late lower control arm ball joints but haven't seen any kits that sepcify early or late model styles on ecs or any other sites.

What's going on here.... https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170204/f6f8c980506c1eedb6e95b57efde8ba9.jpg
The driver side has a straight front UCA but the passenger side has a curved front UCA

there was a vin split for early 97 cars they didn't have the rubber nipple on the upper rearward control arm. There was another vin split in 2000 for the S4 that had to do with steel or alum uprights. I think the early style were just dropped since they are exactly the same sans rubber nipple on the upper rearward arm.

So basically any B5 A4 control arm kit will work on any A4. Its just the S4 you have to know which uprights you have.

your picture just shows design changes over the years. I bet the ball joint in relation to the bushing is exactly the same.

You are correct. The ball joint position is the same just a superceded design was on the old control arm.

Thanks for the help.
