Picked the car(2012 a7 3.0 TDI) up this morning from the garage after it being in for a week because of oil leak from timing chain cover. I noticed on the way home there was a warning triangle for the engine start/stop function. I cleared a load of stored codes and this one lingers still, The transmission was out and all the worked to access the timing chain.

Does anybody know the location of the Sensor for Cylinder Head Temperature? Im hoping the lazy ass mechanic simply didnt connect it back properly.

I think I found the issue:

This belongs to the cylinder head temp sensor. I can't find where to plug it in though. Any ideas? Gonna kill the mechanic at the dealership next time I'm back there. Idiot!

Just a guess...but i suppose it is located on the other side of the tube. Since it is a engine sensor, it should be somewhere on the engine itself.
(sorry different engine here...)
But indeed, you need a serious talk with your garage!

Yeah I was looking at the parts diagram for where it might connect back but can't see any connectors. I'm guessing it's behind that plastic hard pipe

Problem solved, came back down to look at it with a bigger torch and found the connector where it belongs, all the etka drawings show it much higher up beside the rocker cover, but its much lower down on the front of the engine as you can see just about circled in red:

At least it was an easy fix. One less fault code to worry about :)
