Finally had a chance to install Chipwerke tuning box on my 17 a7.

I ordered this a month ago, but had to return and get a new one because they shipped the module for C7 3.0 tfsi. Anyways Larry @ Chipwerke was great to work with and promptly answered all my questions.

So, all C7.5 3.0 owners looking to install this, this is the one you want, notice that this isn't the small yellow box in the photo on their website (I'm not sure if they updated this on their website, but if you simply choose the 333hp model you will get the wrong one just like me, so give Larry a call before making the purchase)

Boost sensors are located here, pretty similar to the older model if anyone's wondering.

Install took about ~5 min, then another ~5 laying out the wire so its somewhat neat and making sure its well away from any moving parts and areas that gets too hot.

Result- [Socal evening, dry 50 degrees, 91 oct gas, almost sea level]

Note that I did not dyno my car to get solid numbers or will I ever. This review is relying solely on my butt dyno. Oh, and I was a little scared before I turned on my car for the first time after install praying for no CEL. Everything checked out, no CEL [:)]

I knew I had to drive the car for few miles before feeling the difference, so I took a short trip to get some groceries and back, didn't really feel much.

After dinner, I hopped on the freeway and felt the difference immediately.

Low end (1.5k - 2.8k rpm) - not much difference, it would be a lie if I told you that i did.

Mid range (2.8k - 4.5k rpm) - It feels like the car is effortlessly moving through the rpm than before, I can feel that I'm picking up speed faster

Top (4.5k - 6.5k rpm) - This is where the most difference is IMO. I never really liked to rev my engine beyond 4.5k - 5k before, because the torque drop and fun ends. But it feels like torque stays on and acceleration is more linear.

I do hear more of the supercharger sound, which is a plus for me.

Overall, this product delivered exactly what I expected. I would recommend this to anyone that's not brave enough to get a flash tune.

Yeah, it does look like its the same thing minus the racechip logo. Mine came in a chipwerke box though... The original chipworke came with a 4 prong connector and my sensor was a 3 prong, I shipped it back to them and this is what i got.

Should I be worried?

Is one of the cables too short and the other too long? Best place for the box would have been under the scuttle panel out of way.

The reason is that you have the CREC engine which has different sensors which use SENT technology.

It would be nice if someone actually dynod these piggyback devices because I'll bet they are totally useless. The manufacturer refuses to do so and every customer has no interest either it seems.

@bhvrdr actually used DTUK's device and was trapping better times at the strip. He didn't dyno the car but he had time slips for it. I talked to him quite a bit about it and the device as well the manufacturer seemed very legit. They provided me with dyno graphs of an S5 with CREC engine.

Well... only time I regularly dyno'ed any of my car was when I was doing some serious tuning and looking at the HP/TQ curve helped making adjustments.

I'm just sharing my unbiased review on a product, and my opinion is based on a product I used, ur assumption is based on something you've never tried.

Did you still pay the same $450 for the box? I ran Chipwerke Pro on my SQ5 for 15k miles with virtually no drawbacks or issues. Might give it a shot since there are no other options.

Had the pro on my pre facelift for over a year. Definitely isn't just hype. Not paying to dyno as I'm not tuning nor breaking any records.

Any updated on this one? Itching to give it a try since I've had good results with mine on the SQ5

I just bought a 2018 A6 3.0t. This chip sounds good, but it would be great to hear more recent reports about it. What's the return policy on these in case I'm not impressed, or in case it causes my transmission to shift poorly?

I'm really impressed with the car with 340 Hp, but I've only had it a week. I test drove a couple of A8's with the 4.0t and the power was "intoxicating".

Can anybody else chime in with their experience with these?

I have the same car. I love my Chipwerke. I had one on my 2014 2.0T which I just had upgraded to support my 2018 3.0T. Works fantastic -- you will notice it immediately when you lay into it. I haven't really noticed any significant shifting issues, no. You have 30-days to return it (https://www.chipwerke.com/terms-and-conditions/). Best of all, it can be completely removed before any service in about 5 minutes. :D

Anyone know anything about racechip? It seems reasonable I have a 2016 a6 3.0

Curious here too. Waiting for the IE tune but the racechip piggyback might be a good temporary alternative.

I see 3 different chips each with different prices. If you have more info on the differences between them please share. My car is also a 2016.

^ i can vouch for the chipwerke, easy install, mild transmission jerkyness on cold mornings/ first 5 minutes of driving but its amazing when it goes away.
