Long story short, car sat for a year and a half before diagnosing no start/no crank as an electrical issue. Since then (about 7 months/7k miles), I've had no luck getting any sort of scan tools to connect. I don't think it's a bent pin or anything? Possible ECU issue? FYI, abs module dead and check engine light has been on since I've owned the car lol. Last I remember scanning were codes for cats and/or O2 sensors.

unplug the electrical connector to the Abs module you skiing then be able to connect to the ECU

thanks will do! Any chance this will hide dash alerts too? Any harm in leaving it unplugged long-term?

This might be a dumb question, but have you checked every fuse? Not Audi specific but in general most cars have fuses that singly protect multiple circuits, an example (from a Kia Optima) is a fuse labeled "memory" is also part of audio system, Pom lamps, illuminated sill plates, and push button start... of water shorts out a sill plate LED, the memory fuse pops and then the car won't start... a no start caused by a memory fuse that blew because of a sill plate.
That was convoluted, but most OBDII port power feed wires are fused but not always labeled as such. A blown fuse can kill the OBDII port resulting in no communication, the fact that the CEL is on and it starts and runs sort of rules out a failed ECU in my mind
