Hello, everyone,

Yesterday, on my way home from work, my car started squeaking very loudly. I pulled over and made a video (see below). It is a 2012 Audi A6 with the 3.0T engine. My first thought was that the belt was the cause, but after spraying a half of a can of belt dressing on both belts, it did not stop. The sound seems to be coming from the right side of the engine. Two things to note: First, it does not squeak over 1,400 RPM. When I am just driving down the road, it is silent. It only happens when the car is idling. Second, it only happens when the car is warmed up. My next thought is that the belt tensioner may be bad.

Please help if you can before I tear my car apart trying to figure it out.

Thanks!

Right side as you are looking at the front or as you are sitting in the car? As in Drivers Side or Passenger Side?

From the video you seem to be panning more to the right side as if you are sitting in the car.

First place i would look would be the SC belt tensioner.

Looks like it is about $100 or so and doesnt look to bad to replace.

Sorry, right side when I am sitting in the car or the passenger side. Right around the fuel pump area.

Could be a knackered bearing, Any chance you can or someone get the SC belt off and start the car and check if the noise has gone.

Thats a good call...its easy enough to remove if you have a serpentine belt wrench...
