A little background on this car. 2001 AWM 1.8TQM with 193,400 on it. I bought the car in September with little to no maintenance records but I got it for a great price. Runs smooth and I barely put any work into it (except a used cat, o2 sensors, and a thermostat). However, the car has a very slow oil leak. I changed the oil at 188,700 with M1 0W-40. Every 2,500 miles or so the yellow low oil warning light pops up and the dipstick reads the level to be at the lowest hash marks. I add a half quart or so and the reading is fine for another 2,500 miles then the light comes back on and it's low again. Searching on AZ revealed a few spots that I should look out for (valve cover gasket, oil cooler o-ring, turbo oil supply line, cam seal...). I'm going to order a valve cover gasket and the oil cooler o-ring and get those done when they come in but what else should I look out for? There are no puddles on the ground but check out the pictures and you'll see some fresh and not-so-fresh oil around the block. Thanks in advance

Any suggestions?

Your Pressure Crankcase Ventilation valve could be shot. I would suggest replacing that and pinpointing exactly where the leak is comiing from. For example, I know mine is fro m my oil drain plug because that built in washer is complete crap.

I believe it's coming from the oil cooler area or right above that. Everywhere else looks dry. Is the pressure crankcase ventilation valve the same as PCV? Or this: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-assembled-by-ecs-parts/pressure-control-valve-pcv-19mm/034129101bkt1/?gclid=CLT9k66f19ECFQtWDQodyygJJw

No. Should have said Positive Crankcase Regulating valve, but this valve.

No need for the 034 one, but can not find any other one on their website for some odd reason. Maybe not looking hard enough.

Where is this thing located? I don't even see it under my Intake manifold on my AWM. The leak honestly looks like it's coming from up and behind the oil cooler (if you're standing at the driver's side of the engine bay near the coolant expansion tank. It's not coming from the valve cover gasket. And pardon my lack of knowledge, but how can this PCV start an oil leak?

When it gets clogged, sort of creates a mess from built up crank case pressure that inevitably needs to be releived one way or another. And no rubber hose is def not keeping that from happening.

Of you look under your intake manifold, there is the crank case relief port above the oil filter (same area we are talking). Off that elbow that comes off the top, next stop is a 3 way tee. Off that three way tee sits this valve. It sits in the tee, and is what connects the three way tee to thw other hose heading towards the driver fender.

^^Ill take a look at that later after work but I don't remember seeing it. Is it literally under the IM or off to the side?

It sits inside the 3 way tee, so you wont see it. Just replace it. Very common failure item on this car. You should be able to pick a brand new oem one off ebay for like $5 shipped.

After changing my oil cooler o-ring and cleaning the area up, I'm still getting a slow leak so I'm going to swap out the PCV check valve with an OEM one I got off of eBay. Before I rip the intake manifold apart and swap this valve out, am I better off just ordering THIS (https://store.034motorsport.com/breather-hose-kit-aug-awm-amb-b5-b6-audi-a4-volkswagen-passat-1-8t-reinforced-silicone.html) and replacing all the hoses since they have almost 200k on them and they might just crack in my hands when I go to remove the "tee"? Or is it not necessary on a 100% stock car? This car is a daily so I can't have it be down for too long.

My drain plug always dripped alittle bit I installed new drain plug torqued it still no luck so I drilled it out cut new seat and hilicoil it installed drain plug and torqued it never had a drip since
