View Full Version : Think I bricked my VCDS
Updated the software today and when the device asked to be updated it seemed to hang on the update and now it's not recognized by my laptop.
I'll try resetting it and seeing if my laptop will recognize it.
Any ideas?

Did you have the cable connected to the laptop when you tried to update it?

Are you using an official cable

I would think the program is capable of resetting the cable when it reinstalls drivers, etc.
If not Ross tech needs to know that the update has the potential to brick some cables.. unless it was user error.
They should know how to unbrick it though.
Thanks I agree have people over and haven't had a chance to look at it. I'll reset and retry and I if that doesn't work I am sure that Ross tech can fix it.
I am fairly confident that it wasn't user error but I never say never. I'm pretty technical.
I was able to finally get the updates to take and the VCDS to recognize the laptop. It may have been related to using a VM windows on a macbook for the update. I was able to get it on a different PC after several attempts it finally took.
Yeah!
I went to turn up the heat on my steering wheel which many people say is set to 28, mine was already at 34 so I just bumped it up to 35 and addd the lap timer and gear display which I like a lot.

Question.. what module did you go to and set the heat on the steering wheel?
