All,
I recently discovered that the 2016 S6 is able to play .FLAC lossless digital music files, which is great. A few issues that arise that I could use some input on:
1) The MMI hard drive only has 10GB of useable space, so you can only realistically fill it with about 10 albums worth of FLAC files (these files are rather large). Does anyone know if the MMI hard drive can be easily replaced with a larger one? Has anyone done this?
2) Interestingly, playing these files off of an SD card or USB thumb drive doesn't sound the same (more washed out than if played directly from the hard drive).
My current setup is an AudioControl DM-810 DSP that is being fed direct speaker line feeds from the head unit, as well as the subwoofer feed. These signals are then sent to a JL 900/5 amplifier, which powers a pair of bi-amped Focal KX3 speakers (3 way component speakers) that have external crossovers.
3) I've tuned the sound via the DSP using pink noise .FLACC file on the hard drive, knowing that the head unit DSP alters the signal. Does anyone know if it is possible to turn off the digital signal processing of the head unit?
4) Any thoughts as to why the same exact digital files sound differently when using the USB or SD port instead of the hard drive?
Thanks for any insights you can provide.
