View Full Version : X-Pel "Bikini Cut" on Ibis White
Has anyone applied the X-Pel "bikini cut" on a white S7? I know that you will see a bit of a line, but is it very apparent? Does dirt build up along the seam on the hood making the lines more apparent? I know a full hood coverage would be best, but could I get away with just partial coverage on the hood without it being too noticeable?
Thanks!

Don't cheap out, do full hood. And have it coated too.

Every time I have seen only half the hood coated you can see where the film has yellowed from the UV compared to the white paint that has not. when the whole hood is covered it's much harder to tell.

X-pel yellowing? Is this more apparent on white than Havana black? I assume so but I would like to make sure before I get it wrapped. Does the x-pel hold up good for 2 years or more?

I have Ibis White, and did XPel Ultimate.
I told my installer to do wrapped edges, but he wasn't a very good installer so he only wrapped the edges on the hood. The areas with exposed edges look bad. Black grime and dirt have collected on the film edge and make a visible outline of the film against the white background.
One of these days I might try to get the film replaced under warranty by a better installer, since some of it is turning yellow after 2 years.

it's gonna be at more noticeable if white compared to darker colors.

You should just do the whole car. You won't regret it.

Here you go. I don't think it's terrible and actually much better than my prism silver RS5. The line drove me nuts.
Depends on how OCD you are, if so then full bonnet. Also consider if any stones are thrown up or worse still off the back of the truck they tend to travel up the bonnet anyway on to what would be the unprotected part.
I had half wing and bonnet on one of my previous cars but have full panel coverage this time. If the film is not applied round panel edges you will see dirt build up along the edge of the film over time.

My car is glacier white and I have the bikini on the front of my S7 but the edges on mine are wrapped around good and don't notice the line in less the car gets really dirty.

Same with my white ibis. My hood is wrapped but front grill/bumper is not wrapped on the edges. You can see black grime collecting on the edges. Not happy at all. Thinking of next summer having the front bumper done properly.
