So I had my car (2005 allroad 2.7t auto) tuned a while back by a guy recommended by the late great Daz (RIP[:(])

As of the last month or so I've noticed that when I get into it a little, half throttle ish it will downshift and pull like normal but jump to a lower gear RPM will increase as normal then I feel a surge, rpm jump drastically. I do have VAGCOM and in order to sufficiently help you guys help me, where so I start with logging data? I'm pulling codes now and will report back.

Simple and hopeful fix will be a throttle body adaptation/re calibration. Something is certainly off with throttle input including the above mentioned issue.

The problem occurs in regular "drive" or "sport" modes

Opinions?

On another note, and for the sake of not creating another thread, I would like to get rid of my old clunky PC laptop which is strictly used for VAGCOM. I have a Macbook Pro and I'd like to set up a virtual box or partition the HD so I can run windows on it in order to use the VAGCOM on my MBP as well. Who has done it and can walk me through the process?

As far as the VCDS solution, I run Parallels on my MBPr (currently with Windows 8.1) just for this purpose. It's a breeze to install, and the VCDS setup was no different than doing it on a native Windows PC.

The RPM surge sounds like a slipping transmission to me but hard to say if I'm interpreting your description properly.

Feel free to elaborate and walk me through the programs I need to purchase/download. Or a link to the source of where you found the info. Much appreciated!!!

Good news is that there is a noticeable difference after the TBA. I did a few pulls from 30 MPH to 90 MPH full throttle in both driving modes with no abnormal problems, so fingers crossed!!

Bad news is that the logs I took I cannot access due to the out of date computer i'm using. Ill take more once I get the new computer setup figured out.

I lied. apparently had nothing to do with the TBA.

What causes the slipping and confused type shifting with these transmissions? Is it a valve body thing?

Clutches or hydraulic pressure. Either or.
