Here's the aftermath.. not soo bad.

Fortunately, I didn't get rear ended by the huge truck behind me, and the deer frolicked off while smiling at me, so that's good. What was shocking was the impact sounded like I hit a brick wall! I've heard horror stories of deer absolutely wrecking cars, so I feel I'm pretty lucky. Putting it all through insurance, (~$6k) getting hood replaced, new bumper, new grill, so it will be just like new, or even better as there were some rock chips on the hood. The best part of the situation.. I get to drive this: 2017 Chrysler Pacifica.

I have to say, driving a new minivan is a very nice change of pace to the s4! The utility, the ride height, the softness of the suspension, remote start, auto doors... minivans have come a long way since the dodge caravan!
Now onto my next question. Is Xpel worth it now that my whole front end is new? I've searched and seems like a lot of people do it, but are there any negatives? Like removal, yellowing? peeling?
thanks everyone and Happy Holidays!

I wouldn't, even as much as you obviously love it, it's just a loaner. [:D]

Its funny, but most of the vehicles that either pass me or try to keep up on the highway, are all mini-vans these days.
I wish I had something like Expel on mine. Highway driving just pits the s%^t out of the hood.

Wow, best case scenario deer accident ever. Most folks total their cars. Good job!

If the new hood was just painted aren't you supposed to wait X amount of time before putting expel on it?

sorry about the deer, but glad you are OK. That rental would be tough for me to drive, I'm spoiled with my S4 :)

Excited that S4 is in the shop so that can drive minivan! LOLOL
There's no way I'd ever bring a minivan home, I'd rather take ubers until my car was fixed - nothing would depress me more.
All new vehicles have come "a long way"... even school buses.

You need to wait atleast 3-4 weeks after the front end is painted before you apply the clear bra. I personally think clear bras are great but over time they begin to look like shit, and I mean over time. Kinda think of it like an iPhone case it's gonna get beat up and eventually look like shit but your phone should be nice and new underneath, but you sacrifice that sexy ass naked iPhone look in the process.
I just had my whole front end redone hood fender bumper and grill due to someone backing into me and driving off while parked...asshole. Anyways I had a clear bra on there before the accident and they quoted me 750 for a replacement but I am opting to just pocket the cash and go naked. One of the biggest reasons for rock chips and other minor front end chips is from riding people's asses so hard while driving. Also it can greatly depend on where you live and what your roads are like. I try my best not to ride people's butts these days. It's all up to you.

Glad you are alright, looks like it was either Bambi or more of a body check to the S4?
Hahah, my gf says the same thing... If i had the choice of big suv, I would choose minivan all the way.
This is what I have been saying for years...'SUV = less practical minivan, buy a minivan'. We did a wine tour and needed third row so I thought, why not grab a big SUV....biggest mistake ever. Everyone in the back got motion sickness. Was it the wine? I don't think so, the second you got out everything was fine. Will never own a minivan unless I get a 'surprise I'm having quadruplets'...I would likely kill myself if it was anything more at once...

Hahah! Quadruplets would be trouble....but yea I was coming down a hill going rather slow and Bambi jumped out planted her butt on my hood, bounced off and hopped away. I'd like to think my maneuvering minimized the collision but I don't think I was going more than 25 at impact, and the brakes worked great! It was the dump truck I had in my rear view that I quickly kept moving and then pulled over. I'm very lucky.
Sorry to hear OP - glad insurance is taking car of it and glad its not a total loss.
I definitely recommend clear bra whole hood vs. partial if you do decide on going this route. The yellowing/fading will be more evident near the line where the protected area stops especially during pollen season or as dirt accumulates over time.
Its funny, but most of the vehicles that either pass me or try to keep up on the highway, are all mini-vans these days.
Haha..this is true. I always assumed most mini-vans drivers that drive as fast as I do on the highways are some sort of car enthusiasts at heart and are probably pissed off they are stuck driving their families around town in the van doing errands etc., while their fast cars sit at home. I guess it's hard to shake those types of driving habits.
Xpel is a great product and I've seen firsthand the protection it provides. As mentioned, you'll need to wait a month after fresh paint before having it applied.

Where did you end up taking it to for repairs?

I brought it to Nash Park Auto Body in Clifton. Craig is the best! He's an audi guy, and is very upfront, honest, and handled the insurance claim process from ensuring the correct parts were used, (progressive wanted to use "recycled") added supplements to the original estimate and made the entire process painless. He's done incredible perfectionist type work on my previous B6 S4. He also comes highly recommended by Eurotech who does my maintenance. I can't speak highly enough about Nash Park!
