View Full Version : Does this sound like mechatronic issues?

I know a lot of the issues that can come up from a mechatronic failure, but sometimes when I'm coming to a stop I can feel what I can only describe as an abrupt clutch disengagement. I don't really get the hard 2-1 downshifts. Also, coming to a not-quite-a-stop and reapplying the throttle it seems to really slip into 2nd.
My transmission was replaced early 2016 (awesome since I'm a 2010) according at an SA I spoke to and my car has a 90 day PT warranty through the dealer I bought it at, so I'm more wondering if i have an issue developing I should address while in warranty as I'm going to go ECU/TCU sooner than later.
Normal DSG quarks or a real issue?

I had the same issue. After being stuck in traffic for a bit Coming to a stop the downshift from 2 to 1 was extremely "clunky" - It was such a hard downshift that the car would jerk. Scary. They changed the mechatronic and no more issues.
Mine was changed due to the extended warranty I purchased - best money spent.
Check when was the last DSG fluid and filter change.

is he right about the warranty? call audi usa I thought it was one year parts & labor. Still report the issue, a new tranny should not shift abruptly

According to the same SA, the 75k was done when the trans was replaced which would have been a fluid change.

Are you letting the car shift from 2 to 1 on its own, or are you manually downshifting?
If I downshift manually, even under 8 mph, I get a jerk and clunk. If I let the car do it on its own as I stop, there is no jerking.

Thats what Im thinking. And I believe you're right about the parts and labor warranty but it is not the same dealer that I bought it through, so should have a one year on the trans and 90 days from purchase on the PT either way. But youre right, I should report it.

Its when the car is slowing on its own, and its USUALLY when coming to a quicker stop. Almost like the clutch didn't have time to disengage by the time I stop. And it is intermittent.

I bought the extended warranty that was extra. Covered 7 years or 100K miles.
Worth it.
Replaced thermostat, and mechatronic

Yeah I believe this car has had the t-stat done. I wouldn't have bought the car without the trans replacement. Warranty would be nice though. Lol

Just to update:
Had the dealership check it out, said it was ok. Only on a road test, however.
Got the 034 DSG tune. The 3rd and up shifts got better, but the lower gears and lower throttle input shifting got worse.
034 suggested engine mount failure, which I had been considering. Installed the 034 S4 mounts, lower gear shifting is much improved and seems to be problem solved. [:D]

I have a similar situation, where only in manual mode my shifts from second into first are clunky. Again only in manual mode. I installed the transmission mounts but didn't help the problem. Maybe I should get motor mounts like you were saying. Has anyone else had the same situation as me? And solved it with motor mounts? I would like more verification before dropping another 200$
