2009 6mt avant known issues?

Some advice please:

My 2011 dsg was stolen :(

Looking to replace it, this time with a manual. The one I have found has done less miles (36,800) but it's an 09 so 2 years older.

Any things I should look out for on a 09 car? I know about the water pump. Is there anything else?

We first received the B8 S4 as MY2010 here in the US, but there are a few issues that seem to be more prominent on the '10 and '11 cars.

-Water pump
-Thermostat
-DSG/mechatronics failure (obviously not relevant here)

Considering the low mileage, I say go for it!!

Yep, we're on the wrong side of the pond. OP, if the car looks cared for, buy it and enjoy.

You're lucky to have the opportunity to choose an Avant. Anyways, a few issues that I remember reading regarding the earlier B8 platform model years are:

Waterpump
Slight vibrations at low speeds (but I think some people believe this is normal with the sports diff)
Creaking clutch
Intermittent RVC issues
MMI LCD not working in hot temperatures (probably won't be an issue in the UK)

Thanks for the info everyone. I know about the clutch issues, or should I say the start issues on the manual cars. Will be checking that when I test drive it next week hopefully.

It's odd that you don't get the Avants over there. Here is a pic of mine that got stolen:

Pretty gutted actually.

6MT cars are hard to come by here. The one I mentioned in the original post is the only decent one for sale at the moment.

If it turns out to not be good I may be looking at a newer S3. Prob a 2013/14 model.
