Hi all. As the title states I have a question about oil consumption. I use 5w40 liqui moly the purplish blue bottle, more purple than blue. It's been roughly 6000 kms since my oil change and I've added just over a quart. Is this normal? All my leaks were addressed already under my extended warranty. To the best of my knowledge from the last time I was under my car which was roughly 2-3 weeks ago I don't have any leaks. I don't really drive my car hard for the record. Spontaneously sometimes getting on the hwy I'll give her to open her up a bit but mostly stuck in city traffic. Should I try a different oil maybe? Any suggestions?

I have an a4 b7, same problem. Looked around everywhere and it seems to be a normal issue that it consumes oil like that. I usually put 1 quart between oil changes.

Well I'm looking to do an oil change soon as I don't normally wait too long but since it's synthetic and they say u can change every 10k , which I personally wouldn't, but just seemed a lil off considering that's what I'd expect with a conventional oil, not that id use conventional in my car. U know what I mean

I'm wondering if maybe I should try another oil. AMS oil was good to me in my previous Audi's

I have a 3.0 but I run the exact same oil you do assuming that it's this stuff.

Doing the oil changes at around 3500-4000 miles (about the same as 6000Km) I also need to
add about a quart of oil between. I asked my local Audi shop about this and they stated that it's completely normal for the B6, especially as they start to get older.

Again, I know the motors are different but I personally wouldn't worry about it. To be safe I check oil levels every time I get gas , and keep a spare quart or two in the trunk whenever she needs a top up though. Also, I have used Mobil 1 0w40 but found that the car runs smoother with Liqui Moly, it's very high quality stuff. Hope that helps, good luck!

That's actually a lil more purple than my bottle. I think mine even has German writing on it. Nonetheless I know lubri moly is good stuff. I just don't remember having to top up so much with AMS. Like u I keep a quart in my trunk and generally check oil level every week. On longer hwy hauls ill check it before driving again. Much appreciated for ur response
