View Full Version : Factory amp/sub question
I posted this over in the audio sub forum but also wanted to drop it here. Ive looked all over here and on the web but cant seem to find an answer.
Does anyone know the factory specs for the amplifier and sub in the b/o system?

Someone posted a pdf pic of all the specs of the whole system a while ago. I don't remember where though, Sorry.
Is there a way to measure the power going to the factory sub from the amp?

I wanna say it's 80 watts
Ok. That's helpful. From what I have found elsewhere it seems that the factory sub is 8ohm.

Not sure but I think it's powered by a rechargeable C battery. B&O went all out.

B&O sub is 80w, but I don't know if that's RMS or Max, and I don't know what percentages we're talking, anyway. I think it's 8ohm, so it's not worth putting a better amp in to power it, and it's not really worth replacing the sub without replacing the amp, because the amp won't drive much.
I just finished a build of a new sub+amp combo (Pioneer GW-D9601 amp (1200w RMS 1ohm) and Alpine SWR-12D2 (1000w RMS,3kw peak)) and the difference is enormous. Make sure to get a good LOC to drop the signal level, but once you get the frequencies and power levels set up it will change the entire sound stage.
