Just wondering what people have experienced using LC and quicker 1/4 mile times. I only am wondering because I am unable to use LC because I have to drive with my left foot, and my best 1/4 mile has been 12.4 @ 112 with Stage 2 GIAC on 93 octane, which is quick, but many have run much faster. I basically slide my left foot off the brake as the tree turns yellow, then try to hit the gas as quick as I can. Sometimes I can feel the car grab quicker as my best 60" is around 1.7 or so, but other times it seems to bog a bit and I run 1.9s. If I can run the 12.4 @112 without LC, what do you think the car could do if I could use the LC?

You could always use a stick or some kind of extender to press the brake pedal, and use your left foot to press the gas, that would allow you to use launch control....kind of a redneck way of achieving it, but it's inexpensive and should work nicely...

That sounds pretty uncomfortable , maybe you should try and have the gas pedal on the left ? I am pretty shore it can be done, will make your life easier for daily driving . For using LC the "stick method" should work pretty well :)

Actually my gas pedal is on the left side. I just slide my foot of the brake right at the last second and try to hit the gas immediately. Just basically wondering if 12.4@112 is decent without LC since I've seen many run lower 12s and 11s on the same stage 2 setup, which I can't seem to get close to.

A good launch using Lc or the upswing method once torque is too high should yield a 1.5x-1.6x 60' which would drop your et a few tenths based on the numbers you posted.

What is the upswing method? I'm still learning so be gentle.

The stick method may be your best bet for consistency. At stage 2 pump file levels, LC should be relatively consistent and normally wouldn't overpower the tires if the track surface is prepped right.

I find that if you release the brake and then hit the gas, the car is inconsistent, it'll do the either of following depending on how quick your foot work is:

- engage LC properly

- does a full clutch dump and spin all four tires

- does a stomp-n-go launch at 2,000rpm (like from a street stoplight launch)

- laggy launch via slow clutch engagement

It's essentially letting off of the brake and mashing the gas simultaneously (like you would if you had a clutch). When done correctly it gives you a linear, aggressive launch without the abruptness of Lc.

You missed where he can only use his left foot..

Interesting recommendation above on using some sort of stick helper/aid... Wouldn't have thought of it -- but could work in this scenario to help with the upswing.. Use it on the brake side..

Cool to hear you were able to switch your gas/brake around.. Did you do that yourself or have a shop do it? As a parent of a child with CP (not suggesting you're in that boat) it's cool to see adaptive shit that doesn't mean you can't live normally or have toys. Awesome thread.

I have thought about using a stick or something actually but worried about it sliding off the pedal or jamming me in the face somehow. Here is a pic of my setup (From other car, but same pedal), it is a left foot pedal adapter.

You will need to adjust your adapter so that you can heel/toe with your left foot. You'll have to play with what's more comfortable with your setup.. whether heel on brake and toe on gas, or toe on brake and heel on gas is more comfortable.
