Alright here is my huge epidimic that is going on right now...Needed a new oil pan. Went to the dealership asked for the part by the vin #. They gave me the oil pan. Bring it back home...oil pan doesnt match the other oil pan that was on my car. The drain plug on the one that is cracked was on the right side and the oil return was on the left. Now on this new oil pan the drain plug is on the left side and so is the oil return. It also seems about an inch or 2 not as deep as the other one. I said screw it and put it on anyways. Are oil pans interchangeable? Maybe I had a 2.8 oil pan on my car and not a 1.8t oil pan? I am AEB by the way. Audi of america was even having a hard time figuring out why the part didnt match. Now I think i might know...

2.8 wouldn't have an oil return right? since that is for the turbo.

i'm an AEB and my oil return and drain plug are both on the passenger side.
