Hey lads, I'm a bit of a newb here and every where for that matter. I've got an 01 1.8t Quattro auto. I am able to acquire a 2002 1.8t Quattro manual (full car)with 150km for $750. Just wondering if I can use this car as a direct drivetrain swap in my 01. What else will I need? What can't I use? Thank you

I can tell you for certain you can use the 01A trans, and the axles, though you really should try and find a b5 parts car, it won't be that difficult.

Though, if I'm not mistaken I believe the 1.8t's have different cranks in the auto vs. 5 speed, so you may be shit out of luck. I would confirm wheather this is true or not before you proceed.

My advice...buy the b6, repair it, and drive that. 100% less headaches.

Thanks for the reply. I know it would be much more simple to find a b5, I just found a good price for a low mileage car and thought I'd ask

Why not but the 2002 A4? Was it in a bad accident?

I just did an auto to manual swap on my a4 b5 from the donor car you'll need:
*Clutch hard and soft line
*shifter assembly
*pedal assembly
*rear diff
*front Co axels
*driveshaft
*v6 manual driver side trans mount

The crank is different auto vs manual for that you can acquire a v6 pilot bearing and cut the cap of. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161127/3c84e2a5f4f1e73beef89fef6fe01b6c.jpg

Car was hit from the side and written off. I was going to pull the motor, trans, axles, rear diff, and whatever else I will need off of the donor. From what I've seen the fire wall is identical so it leads me to believe is it the same chassis (or very close). I thought I'd be able to to get everything I need from the 02 to make it work

x2. i found this out the hard way. youll need to grind a little bit of the outer lip of your cam off so only about 2mm of it sticks out and get a pilot bearing for the end of the input shaft. this is what i used. (http://www.ebay.com/itm/TRANSMISSION-SWAP-PILOT-BEARING-for-AUDI-NEW-A-6941-/201719063853?hash=item2ef764a52d:m:myviRoWOs0IGwlk CkkV7xDQ&vxp=mtr) i ground down the crank to just about right and put the flywheel on and then put the bearing in the flywheel. then i aligned the clutch and installed everything. i have about 10000 miles on my clutch and quite a few 4000 rpm launches and a few soft launches and ive yet to have an issue.

You might as well sell it for a manual tranny. You will save tons of money and time.
