my k04 is making some bad noises while spooling. i chipped a valve awhile ago and im pretty sure it broke something in the turbo, but i havent had a chance to fix it. im really dont want to buy a new one seeing as they are so damn expensive. anyone have any ideas? or personal experience with the issue?

rebuild is going to be replacing the entire center housing as one piece from borg warner. A little cheaper than a new one but not much depending on the labor rate. How'd you chip an exhaust valve?

id find a good used one, and sell yours as rebuildable to make up the difference.

well actually, if it was me, id just go ahead and put the cash towards a BT[:D]

yeah the plan was BT but thats after i yank my motor and rering it. im getting low #'s on the #2 piston

im not quite sure how i chipped the valve. it was running like i had a bad ICM but 0 compression on #2 so i yanked the head and the one of the exhaust vavles had a piece missing. i hit the rev limiter the same night it happened. maybe thats why but it happened a few hours after so im not sure what caused it

I have seen, on ebay, rebuild kits for KO3/KO4 turbos. Now, I don't know how good this kits are, they are from brog/warner. I have plans on rebuiling my old KO3, and turning it into a KO4. I think the kit was olny like $100.

This can be done for $100 bucks? If so, fill me in because I have my old K03 too.

On a side note; I was driving through my new neighborhood and I noticed a Borg/Warner headquarters in town. Now, I'm not sure what they do there but I'm going to find out...It would be great if they did turbos here and they set me up with discounted prices. Then I could pass that on to everyone here...

its not that easy. you have to either bore the housing, or get a new housing, to fit the larger wheel

Offroader, that's something a machine shop could do, right? Think about it, If a $100 rebuild kit exists and you find a shop that can bore the housing (if possible) to the necessary specs, I'm sure it would still be substantially less that buying a new K04. I'm sure an aspiring Entrepreneur like yourself would be interested in that...LOL

they maybe be crispy but they sure make a loud ass noise compared to my t3/t4. i miss the scream of my k04 but i dont miss how slow it was lol
