alright well after google, bing, and all the forums I can think of including Audizine I decided that I had to post to ask this question. wife seized the motor in her c5a6 but the heads are still good, so instead of just dropping another 2.8L in it I was thinking about doing a 2.7T block with a 2.8 head when my friend who is a 2.7 fiend suggested that I do a 3.0 crank but I cannot find much information on making a NA 2.9L stroker and keep the compression on the higher end if I could. does anyone have any information? doing a n/a 2.7 with 2.8 head or even the whole idea he had? not going turbo so don't suggest it. just want to have a little more power than a standard 2.8

You will need new pistons if you plan on stroking your 2.8.

The 2.8 NA is super super slow. just swap a 2.7 k03 motor into your a6 and call it a day.

These days you can get a used 2.7 with all the dressing for under 1000.

Everyone is just going to suggest you go turbo. A later 2.7T is a very robust thing and it has the extra pep you're saying you want. If putting the money in then 2.7T is the bang for buck. Maybe the facelift 3.0L would fit what you're looking for if you're dead set on NA.

I like the idea. Have thought of something similar myself. I guess you could start off with a 2.7 block, 3.0 crank and 2.8 heads. What about ignition? Did you consider a different/custom cam? Many more variables to this equation but would be nice to see you get it done.

IT depends on your goal and budget, but honestly it's a waste of your time. A used 2.7tt can be had for cheap and in stock trim will make more power than a 2.9 N/A motor can.

No 2.7 bi turbo. Thats not what we want. Run NA for a year or so until cams and a supercharger. The initial goal is just to drive it daily like she was before.
