I just purchased an intercooler from ebay dimensions are 9"x3"x30"(endtank to endtank). The inlet and outlet are 2.25". I will be running a K04 w/ giac pc-16 and all the other goodies that the file requires. While I realize this intercooler is kinda big for the turbo I believe I need to make up for it in piping size. Should I go for 2", 2.25", or 2.5" piping? I've decided to also go staninless steal on the piping and have it welded. The intercooler I ran with the ko3 and apr 1bar chip was a little smaller and I ran it with 2.5" piping, I noticed pressure drops of about 2 psi and loss of power. Any feedback greatly apprciated...

2.25" from turbo > ic
2.5" from ic > throttle body

Do you have a stock bumper? If so that wont fit without cutting absolutly everything out.

yeha, hope you have a larger bumper or a hatred for your stock front end

To asnwer a few questions...
The cost was about 250-300 don't remeber the exact figure
This will be going behind a reiger rs4 bumper so it shouldn't be so bad...i'll take pics of the whole setup as I get it done.

So on a final note 2.25 and 2.5 is the final decison? any other suggestions?

I'm really worried that I'll have the 2psi pressure drop again and I want to try to avoid that.

the ecu should compensate w/ the n75 valve for any pressure loss

when i first installed my front mount i lost about 2 psi, gained it back within a week or so

I think your ecu compensated because your car is dbw and I believe the 2000< cars have the boost sensor in the intercooler piping. I don't think there is any way that my ecu can tell that it's not getting the requested boost...

sounds like you may be better off with your old intercooler. bigger isn't always better.

There is a hole about the size of a golf ball in my old one and when I tried to find the same one I couldn't...

let me get this straight, you want to use that ic on a k03?

Not that it's that much of a diff from a ko3 but no

"I will be running a K04 w/ giac pc-16 and all the other goodies that the file requires"

is this a bad move?

no thats the right move

this is a huge unit, could be too much for even a k04 with the aggressive file.

I built a 450bhp car w/ a 28x8x3.5 core. That's definetely oversized. I don't see how you're going to fit a 30" core behind the stock bumper.
